Swatch: Essence TE Dark Romance - 04 Gothic Gold

Back to the past (2014) today, with a polish from Essence Dark Romance Trend Edition (don't worry if you don't remember it, neither did I...Here is my press release post). This is the textured one, Gothic Gold; I bought it because at that time I didn't have any golden textured polishes in my stash, but it wasn't love at first swatch.

As usual I applied two coats (last picture) and the result was so coarse and heavy, not a nice thing to see.

The next day I tried again, applying just one coat, and I got a better result (and as you can notice on my pointer finger, thinner the layer, less rough the surface).

Even so I still wasn't satisfied with my manicure, I think this polish looked much better with some stamping on it (check the IG picture at the bottom of the post)!

Oggi facciamo un salto (bello lungo) nel passato con uno smalto Essence della LE Dark Romance (si parla di gennaio 2014, qui il post-cartella stampa); si tratta del Gothic Gold, lo smalto textured della collezione.

L'avevo comprato perché essenzialmente mi mancava un materico color oro, ma il primo impatto non è stato proprio piacevole: per abitudine ho dato due passate e il risultato è stato un pastone cementoso decisamente poco bello da vedere (ultima foto con boccetta).

Ho riprovato il giorno dopo, con una sola passata e l'effetto è stato migliore: comunque la superficie è rimasta molto granulosa e ruvida al tatto (sull'indice, con strato più sottile, sono rimaste meno asperità).

Da solo comunque non mi piaceva molto, in un'altra occasione l'avevo usato come base per uno stamping e il risultato mi era piaciuto un sacco (in fondo la foto da Instagram)!

[Wheel - Ruota] Yellow/Orange - Giallo/Arancio #3

Summer seems to have gone for good (and that makes me quite sad), but I'm trying to stick to bright and happy colors, at least with this wheel.

I'll try to complete the missing posts as soon as possibile, some polishes have already been swatched (ages ago :-P).

Swatch: Lupine 루핀 Nail Lacquer LP 043 Gold Opal

Today I'm showing you a quite peculiar polish from my collection, as it comes directly from South Korea (my husband bought it for me during a business trip a couple years ago). I asked him to pick some local polishes and so he did: this is from brand Lupine, actually I didn't find much about them on the internet...Until I tried using the Korean name 루핀 !! Then I found nail polishes, gel polishes, nail art items and so on. Quite interesting!

Anyway this one is LP 043 Gold Opal, it's a "strange" greenish-gold with holo particles (they look quite nice in the bottle, less eye-catching on nails). The polish is a little bit sheer, it took three coats for these swatches and the surface remains a little bit grainy from the particles (I tried adding a top coat layer, but it didn't change much - see picture without bottle).

Oggi vi mostro uno dei miei pezzi "particolari": si tratta di uno smalto sudcoreano, portato come "souvenir" dall'Ing. un paio di annetti fa.

Gli avevo chiesto marche locali e sono stata accontentata! Questo è della Lupine, marchio di cui non ho trovato praticamente niente in rete...Finché non mi sono messa a cercare in coreano e ho scoperto un mondo di prodotti Lupine o meglio 루핀 (gel, smalti e accessori vari per manicure)...Grazie Google Traduttore, posso perfino tradurre il titolo del blog (spero): 결코 에나멜없이

Lo smalto si chiama Gold Opal ed è "strano": di colore verde marcio-dorato, con particelle olografiche, interessanti in bottiglia, ma che sulle unghie si perdono un po'. Non è coprentissimo, sono state necessarie tre mani per questo swatch; la superficie poi resta leggermente ruvida (per via delle particelle), tanto che alla fine ho provato ad aggiungere una passata di top coat (foto senza boccetta, non è cambiato molto).

[Wheel - Ruota] Yellow/Orange - Giallo/Arancio #2

Wheel time! I've got so/too many wheels to show here, so I decided (2016 blog resolutions ^_^) to do a wheel-post at least once a month.

For January I picked one randomly and here is Yellow and Orange #2. Not among my favorite polish shades, but it seems I have a few of them anyway ;-)

Oggi ruota! Ne ho ancora tantissime da mostrare (di certi colori ormai sono arrivata alla quinta), così ho deciso, per il 2016, di postarne almeno una al mese.

La scelta di questo mese è stata "random", pescandone una a caso è capitata quella degli arancio-giallo. A quanto pare ne ho abbastanza, anche se non sono proprio tra i miei colori preferiti ;-)

China Glaze Rare & Radiant: swatch & comparison

I don't think I ever posted a Peri-dupe* on my blog before, it's about time!

*that's how we call the Chanel Peridot dupes

Today infact I'm showing you China Glaze Rare&Radiant, from Fall 2012 collection New Bohemian (press release post), that I got thanks to Enails.eu.

The polish has an average coverage (not enough for me to be a stamping polish anyway), here the result after two coats (very easy to apply neatly, no clean up in my pics).

The shade shifts from bronze to gold and green, up to almost azure. Very nice but not original at all (at present almost every brand has a similar shade).

Non credo di avervi mai proposto (o propinato) qui sul blog uno dei famosi Peri-dupe (cioè copie dello Chanel Peridot). E' giunta finalmente l'ora!

Oggi infatti vi mostrerò il China Glaze Rare&Radiant, della collezione autunnale 2012 New Bohemian (post-cartella stampa), arrivato qui grazie a Enails.eu.

Lo smalto è moderatamente coprente (non tanto da renderlo adatto per lo stamping però), qui il risultato dopo due passate (menzione d'onore all'applicazione - zero clean up per queste foto).

Dal punto di vista del colore lo smalto passa dal bronzo all'oro al verde chiaro, fino quasi ad un verde azzurro.

Bello ma, come si è detto, ormai poco originale.

I took the chance to compare it with a local Peri-dupe: Deborah Shine Tech 72 Scarabée.

As you can see in my pictures, the two polishes are identical (for the record: China Glaze on pointer and ring, Deborah on middle and pinkie), the only different feature is the brush, the Deborah one is wide and maybe not handy for those with tiny nails.

That's all, I don't think I have any other Peridupes, what about you? Did you fall for the original Peridot or any of its emulators?

Come vedete dalle foto i due sono assolutamente identici (per la cronaca: China Glaze su indice e anulare, Deborah su medio e mignolo); l'unica cosa diversa è il pennello, molto largo per il Deborah e forse scomodo per chi ha unghie piccole.

E voi avete ceduto al Peridot o a uno dei suoi imitatori? Quanti?

Birthstone Challenge - December: Turquoise

December came...and we reached the final episode of our Birthstone series. Once again I must thank Ere K. for having this great idea and arranging the challenge!

This month's gem is turquoise, and this time I had no doubts: I had to try the water spotted I saw on Simona's blog Light Your Nails.

When looking for inspiration I saw also some manicures that included gold, so I decided to try mine using a turquoise base (Orly Frisky) plus black (Orly Liquid Vinyl*) and gold (CND Vinylux Locket Love*).

I know that my manicure is far from perfect, the black came out too "diffuse" and there is a huge gold spot on my ring finger...But I really loved my marbled nails.

I found them so mesmerizing that I had to complete the manicure on my right hand, and add tons of top coat to make it last as long as possible :-)

BTW don't forget to take a look at our board, there's plenty of turquoises there...And thanks for reading, I really hope you enjoyed our gemstones series!

Ed eccoci arrivate all'ultima puntata della nostra Birthstone Challenge, che ha scandito mese per mese questo 2014 ormai agli sgoccioli. Grazie ancora ad Ere K. per averla ideata e organizzata!

Questa volta si parla di turchese e sapevo da mesi cosa fare: la water spotted vista da Simona Light Your Nails!

Guardando un po' in giro ho trovato anche delle versioni che includevano l'oro e così ho deciso di cimentarmi (per la prima volta) in questo tipo di nail art, utilizzando una base turchese (Orly Frisky), smalto nero (Orly Liquid Vinyl*) e oro (CND Vinylux Locket Love*). 

Il risultato è ben lontano dall'essere perfetto, lo so...Sull'anulare c'è una macchia oro troppo larga ed il nero è venuto molto "diffuso", per cui la manicure complessivamente è troppo scura, ma sulle mani l'ho trovata meravigliosa e particolarissima, tanto da completare la manicure con la mano destra e passarci abbondante top coat, per tenerla, se possibile, tutta la settimana!

Mi raccomando fate un giro sulla board per ammirare anche gli altri turchesi e grazie per averci seguito in questo anno di challenge!!
