Con il nastro rosa. Breast cancer awareness manicure

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month; thanks to Gold Francine, that gathered us all together (Pinterest board at the bottom of the post) also me and my nailbloggers/friends will dedicate a pink post to this important theme.

My first attempt was a pink mani with an "accent ribbon", but it came out so awful I had to remove it. Second attempt: pink + glitter (easier)! The base here is L'Oreal Color Riche Acid Wartermelon (that's how it's written on my label!), two coats, three on ring; the glitters are Shaka Glitter Top coat* 03 Flamingo and 05 Superdiva (on ring finger).

Don't forget to take a look at my friends' posts, they did amazing pink manis! But above all please remember that prevention and early diagnosis are very important, so be breast aware :) (another interesting page about self-exam also here)!

Ottobre è il mese dedicato alla prevenzione del tumore al seno e (grazie a Gold Francine, che nuovamente ci ha "riunite") ecco qui la mia manicure rosa.

Il primo tentativo contemplava una accent nail con il classico "fiocco", ma mi è riuscita così male che ho deciso di rifarla. Così sono passata ad un più semplice rosa + glitter, in questo caso la base è L'Oreal Color Riche Acid Wartermelon (giuro che sulla mia etichetta c'è scritto così): due passate (tre sull'anulare); i glitter sono i Shaka Glitter top coat* (03 Flamingo e 05 Superdiva sull'anulare).

Le mie smaltamiche sono state molto più brave, passate a dare un'occhiata e soprattutto ricordatevi -visto che al 99% se state leggendo qui siete donne- che i controlli (sia preventivi sia in caso di "dubbi") sono importantissimi.

Swatch: L'Oreal Color Riche 834 Banana Pop

Just because technically it's still Summer...A super bright yellow polish from L'Oreal Flashionista on the blog today (last August I found them on sale and couldn't resist picking all the shades).

Despite the "fluo" and "mat" features reported on the display, Banana Pop is none of them, as it's just a very bright yellow creme.

I tried it both on its own (ring and pinkie, two coats) and on a white base (one coat, on my beloved Shaka 101, index and middle).
You have to be very careful when applying it (on my notes I wrote something like "don't ruuuuush"); once dry it remains glossy as a standard creme and unfortunately at a closer distance streaks are slightly visible.

Oggi è uscito un po' di sole qui, ne approfitto per non sentirmi troppo incoerente, dopo un post autunnale, a postarne uno super estivo (era pronto da prima delle ferie, ma non son riuscita a completarlo).

Forse avevate letto che, avendo trovato alla Gardenia -in offertissima- gli smalti della Flashionista L'Oreal, non ero riuscita a trattenermi. Nel giro di due giorni me li sono portati a casa tutti :D

Ecco qui il primo, che in realtà non è né fluo né mat come reclamizzato sull'espositore (e non è nemmeno l'unico!), ma semplicemente un giallo intenso.

L'ho provato sia da solo (anulare, mignolo - due passate) che su una base bianca (indice, medio - una passata su bianco Shaka 101).

Va steso con molta calma (negli appunti avevo scritto "calmaaaa", tanto per capire). Una volta asciutto resta lucido come un laccato normale, purtroppo da vicino si vedono un po' le striature.

Twinsie post: Neon lights!

A themed post today! The subject was "neon", that made me immediately think about this pretty dotticure I saw on Fashion Polish blog; she posted a step-by-step tutorial too, so I picked my dotting tools and decided to give it a try.

I'm quite happy about the result (even if it looks better IRL than in my close-up pics, where every flaw of my dots is so visible), I need to try this with other color combos, too.

Oggi post di gruppo a sorpresa! Stavolta il tema era "neon"...E la prima cosa che mi è venuta in mente è questa dotticure (manicure a pallini) vista sul blog di Fashion Polish. Nel post c'è anche un tutorial molto semplice, per cui ho deciso di tirar fuori i dotting tool e cimentarmi con questi pois.

Devo dire che il risultato mi piace molto (anche se è più carino e "d'impatto" dal vivo che nelle foto ravvicinate, dove si notano tutte le atroci imperfezioni dei miei pallini), sto già pensando alle prossime combinazioni di colori da provare!

Direct sunlight - Sole diretto

This polish belongs to my  long-forgotten trunk: it's a L'Oreal  orange (strange purchase, usually I avoid this color) I bought in the summer of  2006. Actually on nails it looks prettier than in the bottle: more peach than orange, with a lot of nice golden shimmer.

At present I don't buy  L'Oreal polishes because of their animal testing policy, but as this polish belongs to an "out of production" collection I decided to post it all the same (as a sort of  "historical record").

EDIT Aug 2013: considering that it's quite difficult to understand if companies are good or bad concerning "cruelty free" issues (what about formerly cruelty free small companies that have been bought by multinational corporations, or ones that will start testing their products to access Chinese market?) I decided to stop boycotting brands like L'Oreal or Rimmel.

Un altro degli smalti "vecchi": questo risale all'Agosto 2006 ed è un arancio-pesca dorato. Non mi sembrava molto carino (e poi...arancio!) e mi sono chiesta come mai l'avessi comprato all'epoca.  Swatchandolo ho realizzato che non è male, sulle mani è meno arancio e più pesca ed è veramente molto shimmeroso.

Credo sarà l'unico swatch L'Oreal che vedrete qui, non compro più i loro smalti a causa della loro politica di test sugli animali, questo appartiene ad una collezione fuori commercio e quindi ho deciso di postarlo più che altro come parte del mio "archivio storico".

EDIT: sono passati più di due anni e in questo periodo ho deciso di rivedere la mia politica di "boicottaggio". Siccome non mi sento in grado di distinguere chi veramente non testa (v. aziende cruelty free comprate da multinazionali), è inutile che faccia discriminazioni.
