Swatch: Nubar Stardust [Twinsie Friday - duochrome]

You already know I'm crazy for duochromes and since I tried Nubar Wildlife the idea of buying also the other multichromes from this brand started fluttering into my mind. Until I placed a small order (back when UK sellers could still ship through RM ?_?);  I showed you Indigo Illusion during the ABC Challenge, now it's Stardust time!

Quite sheer after the first coat, perfectly opaque after three of them. It shifts from a antique rose to light bronze to gold in a very definite way...And it's simply wonderful.

Nothing crazy or too flashy, it could be perfect also for work or a formal.

BTW At that time I used to swatch duochromes on their own, I think that now I will give it a try also on a black base (thanks, Simona)!

Eccomi qui per un altro gemellaggio!

Data la mia (insana) passione per i duochrome una volta provato il Nubar Wildlife ha iniziato a ronzarmi in mente l'idea di procurarmi anche gli altri multicromatici di questo marchio: un primo colpo di testa (quando comprare dalla Gran Bretagna non era un problema) mi ha portato a casa altri tre gioiellini.
Indigo Illusion è stato il protagonista della lettera I della ABC Challenge, questo è Stardust, smalto che ho swatchato la scorsa estate (anche se dati i colori mi era sembrato ottimo anche per l'autunno) e che finalmente riesco a postare.

La prima mano risulta molto leggera ma in tre passate è coprente (come da foto). Passa da un rosa antico al bronzo chiaro all'oro in maniera molto definita ed è semplicemente bellissimo. Al tempo non avevo ancora assimilato l'idea che i duochrome più leggeri possono dare un ottimo risultato su una base nera, sicuramente oggi  lo proverei anche in questo modo (Simona docet).

Comunque pur essendo un multicromatico non ha niente di pazzo o sgargiante, è uno smalto che si può indossare anche in occasioni formali, ma per niente noioso (magari se vi annoiate voi, nella suddetta occasione formale, potete passare il tempo guardandovi le unghie cambiare colore secondo la luce).

ABC Challenge: I - Nubar Indigo Illusion [swatch]

To represent today's letter I picked a polish with a finish I love: duochrome/multichrome.

In fact today I'm showing you Indigo Illusion from Nubar (I couldn't find if it was released in a specific collection, even if in some e-shops there's a Chrome reference, if you know that please let me know).

The shade: to begin with we have a grayish blue base with pink reflections due to shimmer. You can also glimpse some light green. Then it looks a light gray-purple with pink hues, but if you manage to turn your hands at the right angle a flashy green appears. Crazy!

I'm adding also a short video (I hate how blurred it turned out - and how weird my skintone looks - but the color shift is so evident) to show you how dramatic is the color change here :-))

Three easy-to-apply coats for this swach, the Nubar "flared"cap is really handy BTW.

Every time I try a Nubar polish my love for this brand grows stronger, I bet you understand what I mean!

Per la lettera di oggi ho scelto uno dei miei tipi di smalto preferiti, un duochrome (o meglio multichrome). Il protagonista di oggi infatti è Indigo Illusion di Nubar, che credo appartenga alla loro collezione permanente (per lo meno non ho trovato riferimenti precisi se non un generico “Chrome” su qualche e-store, se ne sapete di più scrivetemelo, grazie :-)).

Veniamo al colore: diciamo che inizalmente sembra una base blu grigio cupo (avio) con shimmer rosa e un tocco di verdino-dorato; poi un viola-grigio chiaro con riflessi rosa. Ma con le dovute torsioni delle mano :-D  si rivela un verde chiaro pazzesco.

A seconda di come la luce lo colpisce lo smalto cambia in maniera drastica, aggiungo un video esplicativo (che non mi piace molto, è sfocato e la mia pelle fa impressione, ma si vede benissimo il passaggio dei colori, abbiate pietà del resto).

Tre mani facili facili (il tappo svasato è comodissimo) nelle mie foto. Il mio amore per gli smalti Nubar si consolida ad ogni colore che provo, mi capite vero?

E ora date un'occhiata alle altre I del giorno (mi sa che anche stavolta son l'ultima)!

July Haul: Beauty Bay, Born Pretty Store and...

I haven't been writing a haul post for a while, not because I stopped shopping (although I tried) but because my purchases were mostly “two/three pieces” at the store and more apt to be shown on twitter than here.

Anyway as I recently received a couple envelopes from e-shops I never tried before, I thought my experience was worth sharing.

E' da un po' che non pubblico un post “haul”, non perché abbia smesso di comprare smalti (ma quando mai?) ma perché i miei ultimi acquisti sono stati più da “due/tre pezzi” alla volta, magari più adatti per un tweet al volo.

Recentemente invece mi sono arrivati due ordini fatti da negozi on line che non avevo mai provato e ho pensato di raccontarvi le mie impressioni in merito.

BEAUTY BAY

I placed this order on 28^th June while my boys (sometimes it seems I have three of them, two small and a XL one) were watching a football match (and screaming something about Balotelli).

Maybe all the cheering I heard excited me too, as I finally decided to grab a few Nubars I've been lemming for a while.

It was the first time I tried this e-tailer (shipping is free worldwide and goods leave from UK so there are no custom issues for EU polish/makeup-aholics)

The box reached my mailbox around ten days later and I have to mention the packaging was really amazing: inside the cardboard box each polish was carefully bubble-wrapped. They also added an Esthederm cream sample :-)

So finally I have here with me these renowned pretties (three of them are duochromes, even if it's not that clear in the pictures).

Ordine piazzato il 28 giugno (ve lo ricordate?), mentre i miei maschi si agitavano sul divano gridando cose su Balotelli; probabilmente tutta quell'esaltazione ha contagiato anche me e finalmente ho deciso di portarmi a casa quattro Nubar che puntavo da tempo.

E' stato il mio primo ordine da Beauty Bay (ma ci pensavo da un po', le spese di spedizione sono gratuite ed essendo in Gran Bretagna non ci sono problemi di dogana) e sono stata soddisfatta: in una decina di giorni il pacchetto è arrivato, con gli smalti imballati benissimo (ogni boccetta avvolta in un quintale di bolle aria) e hanno pure aggiunto un campioncino di crema Esthederm. Così finalmente questi Nubar sono miei (tre sono duochrome, anche se dalla foto non si nota):

BORN PRETTY STORE

Another order I decided to place (thanks to a birthday promo code I had a 10% off but you can find a lot of affiliate blogs that display such codes) was a mix of polishes and other things at Born Pretty.

I picked some tools (wooden sticks, striping tape), a hair accessory (still learning how to manage it) and three polishes: two neons (I read a review about them in a nailblog and felt they were safe enough - at least they were not stinky - to be "added to cart") and a “glow in the dark” :-)

Order placed on 20th June, arrived here on 12th July, without custom issues (but I heard another Italian girl that has not been so lucky - yep, our custom issues suck). Items were placed in a bubble envelope and polishes were carefully bubble-wrapped.

I'm really satisfied also by  this purchase (so far I tried the darkest polish...and I love it)!

Un altro ordine piazzato a giugno è stato quello a Born Pretty (avevo uno sconto promozionale del 10% che mi avevano mandato per il compleanno, ma trovare un codice sconto non è difficile, ho visto parecchi blog affiliati con il bannerino rosa).

Stavolta ho preso “attrezzatura” (bastoncini, il nastro adesivo da striping), una cinesata per fare lo chignon (sto imparando ancora ad usarlo) e tre smalti, di cui due neon (ho letto su un blog che non  puzzavano, per cui ho deciso di provarli) e un “glow in the dark” (da tanto ne volevo uno)!

Ordine fatto il 20 giugno, arrivato il 12 luglio senza problemi di sorta (ma so che ad un'altra ragazza italiana non è andata così bene, grazie ad un' "ispezione" condotta in malo modo); gli articoli erano in una busta con le bolle, e gli smalti a loro volta impacchettati in pluriball.
Sono molto contenta anche di questo acquisto (ho provato uno degli smalti finora, quello centrale...E mi piace un sacco)!

Swatch: Nubar Reclaim

I'm having a lot of fun posting about holos, so I decided to extend my three-in-a-row series, adding more brands (I just put my hands on some new Italian holos from Astra). In the meantime I'm showing  n. 3 of my series, the renowned Nubar Reclaim. Well its fame is well deserved!

Fludity of this Nubar really surprised me, during application it gives a sort of “oily” feeling, as polish is quite fluid but not runny. Two coats for a gorgeous result, I have no words for this medium green holo. Enjoy the pictures!

P.S: holo effect might not be visible in the shade, but indoors (or under electic lightning) some "sparkles" are still noticeable!

La serie di post olografici mi ha preso più del previsto, per cui ho deciso di estenderla un po', aggiungendo qualche altra marca (ho appena messo le mani sugli holo della Astra). Nel frattempo ecco il terzo post, protagonista il rinomato Nubar Reclaim (uno dei primi - credo - olografici verdi).

La consistenza di questo Nubar mi ha decisamente stupito, applicandolo si ha come la sensazione che sia oleoso (nel senso che è fluido ma non acquoso), in due mani il risultato è perfetto e beh lascio che le foto di questo olografico verde parlino da sole. Stupendo!

P.S. all'ombra l'effetto olografico non si nota, ma in interni, con luce naturale o artificiale, qualcosa si vede...^_^

Friday deserves a special polish...My first Nubar!

First thing I noticed when I finally kept "my preciouss" in my hand is that cap is quite uncommon, made of a very light plastic compared to other brands, but I found it really handy, also because of its flared shape.

I really hoped this was a good duochrome on nails, too and I haven't been disappointed: after first coat polish seems quite sheer, but it gets perfectly opaque in three coats and color changes from light green to pink and golden/bronze, I think the pictures are quite astonishing, color shift is really evident. I think it's great, isn't it?

Anyway, I wrote enough, I better let the - many - pics (direct sunlight) talk!

Il venerdì merita uno smalto speciale: il mio primo Nubar! 
Quando l'ho finalmente tenuto nelle mie mani ho subito notato il tappo, che mi è sembrato stranissimo, perché fatto di una plastica molto leggera, contrariamente alle altre marche; invece è praticissimo, anche per la forma svasata.

Speravo tanto che questo duochrome, ben evidente in bottiglia, si mantenesse tale anche sulle unghie e non sono stata delusa: dopo la prima mano era abbastanza trasparente, ma ne sono bastate tre per avere una coprenza perfetta.
Il colore cambia in maniera veramente stupefacente, da verde chiaro a rosa e oro/bronzo, penso che le foto rendano bene l'idea, non è stupendo?? Non aggiungo altro, guardatevi il mare di foto (tutte sole diretto)!!
