Swatch: Fairwind 57 Glamourous Moonshine [twinsie Friday - duochrome]

Today's polish is quite old (and discontinued)! I bought it in 2011, when it was released with Fairwind Silk collection.
On its own it's a very sheer pink (meeeh), but layer it on a dark base and...Surprise, here we have purple, light green and even dark grey.

I tried it back in 2011 on a purple shimmer (Essence True Love - Vampire's love TE) and then again a couple weeks ago on a black creme (Orly Liquid Vinyl). The latter combo really amazed me, the duochrome was really easy to spot on nails (no need to bend wrists in unadvisable manners :-P), I admit I didn't expect that much from such a cheap polish.

Lo smalto di oggi è praticamente un reperto archeologico! Appartiene ad una collezione uscita nel 2011, la Fairwind Silk.

Visto da solo lo smalto è un rosino abbastanza triste (dopo due mani è trasparentissimo), però indossandoci sotto la mutanda™  si vede un tripudio di colori.

Ai tempi l'avevo provato sul viola della Essence Vampire's Love: True Love. Qualche settimana fa ho fatto un esperimento veloce anche sul nero e devo dire che mi ha stupita per la visibilità del cambio colore (viola-grigio-verde chiaro), anche senza dover torcere tanto i polsi  :-).

Pensare che era uno smaltino economico da cui non mi aspettavo più di tanto...Spero sia piaciuto anche a voi, ora correte a vedere le altre duocromatiche!!

A grey comparison - comparazione di grigi

Essence - Fairwind - Orly (the 18ml giant/il gigante da 18ml)

1st coat - 1° passata

When I posted my swatch of Orly Steel Your Heart I noticed it looked surprising similar to the preceding post, featuring Fairwind Tahitian Pearl; straight afterwards Karen in her comment asked about a comparison...So here it is! BTW I added also another grey polish I love (and still have to post about): Essence Multi Dimension 62 Must-Have.

The difference between the polishes is quite evident after first coat (picture above): Fairwind is quite sheer whereas both Orly and Essence are more pigmented.

After second coat (other pictures) Essence becomes really different, it's darker and, being a shimmer, brush strokes free.
Fairwind and Orly look similar, but you can see in my pictures that shade is definitely different, as one has stronger green tones (Fairwind) and the other is more metallic-grey (Orly Steel Your Heart)

Eventually I added also a coat of Essence Nail Art Topper, what do you think of the satin version? I like it a lot, especially on Fairwind and Orly.

Quando ho postato lo swatch dell'Orly Steel Your Heart mi sono accorta di quanto sembrasse simile allo smalto del post precedente, il Fairwind Tahitian Pearl; mi è sembrato strano perché li avevo archiviati mentalmente come due colori differenti: grigio il primo e grigio-verde il secondo.
Poco dopo però Karen nel suo commento ha rilevato la stessa cosa, chiedendomi se avevo in mente una comparazione...Ed eccola qua! Visto che c'ero ho aggiunto anche un altro grigio che mi piace molto (e che devo ancora postare), l'Essence Multi Dimension 62 Must-Have.

Dopo la prima passata (seconda foto in alto) si nota che il Fairwind è decisamente il meno pigmentato dei tre; dopo la seconda (tutte le altre foto) l'Essence si stacca nettamente dagli altri: è molto scuro ed essendo uno shimmer, non ci sono segni delle pennellate.

Il Fairwind e l'Orly effettivamente si assomigliano, ma il primo è più tendente al verdino perlato mentre il secondo è più grigio/metallico.

Alla fine ho provato ad aggiungere su tutti una passata del Topper Essence Nail Art, che ve ne pare della versione satinata? A me è piaciuta, soprattutto su Tahitian Pearl e Steel Your Heart.

Here the weather is cold again so today's "winter" polish is quite appropriate: this is a Fairwind polish from Silk Collection (there are still few pieces available in Schlecker stores here); I think inspiration for this polish is Chanel Black Pearl, as it's a frost grey/green (with all related issues, as visible brush strokes), even if the Chanel, for what I recall from the bottle I saw, has visible green shimmer, that this one is missing.
It's quite sheer after first coat, but opaque enough after second one.

I usually loathe (thanks to Madonna I learnt a new English term) this finish but I like the shade, so I'm on the fence about this one. You?

In tema con in freddo, che proprio non se ne vuole andare, oggi posto uno degli smaltini Fairwind della collezione invernale Silk (si trovano ancora nelle drogherie Schlecker), secondo me fortemente ispirato allo Chanel Black Pearl (che però, dalla bottiglia che ho visto, mi pare abbia in più dello shimmer verde): è un verde grigio perlato -quindi segni delle pennellate come se piovesse- chiaro dopo la prima passata e coprente dopo la seconda.

Non amo questo finish ma il colore non mi dispiace, quindi su questo smalto mi sento “in bilico”...Voi?

Fairwind French Affair: top coat and cuticle remover

ENG If you have the chance to check in a Schlecker store you already know Fairwind brand.

Here in my area a temporary display appears from time to time (manufacturer is Marabu Cosmetics, same company that released the Emily polishes last year): the products are really cheap so when I found the French Affair display last Spring I decided to try top coat 3 in 1, cuticle remover and stickers, here below you'll find my opinion on first two:

ITA Chi ha occasione frequentare i negozi Schlecker avrà visto che oltre alla [b] Basic ogni tanto appare qualche espositore temporaneo Fairwind (prodotto dalla Marabu Cosmetics, gli stessi che avevano fatto gli smalti meteora Emily l'anno scorso).
Quando ho trovato questo French Affair la scorsa primavera non ho resistito (i prodotti costano molto poco) e mi sono comprata cuticle remover, top coat 3 in 1 e stickers, queste sono le mie impressioni sui primi due (si trovano ancora in vendita, di solito mescolati ad altre cose [b] basic):

Cuticle Remover

ENG I'm sorry, it doesn't work. I use it all the same when I push cuticles with wooden stick, but if I really need the excess cuticles to come off, I can't use it. Really a pity!

ITA Mi dispiace ma non funziona. Lo uso comunque giusto per mettere qualcosa sulle cuticole quando le spingo indietro con il bastoncino, ma se devo fare un lavoro serio (cioè proprio rimuovere le cuticole in eccesso) non ci siamo! Peccato!

Top coat 3 in 1 Diamond Shine

ENG It's a basic product that works quite well, when swatching I use it as base coat. As top coat it is quite shiny, I used it also on nail wraps to make them shrink on nails, as it's the type of top coat that melts polish (see how brush remains polish-stained after having applied it on a purple polish).

ITA Fa il suo dovere, considerando che di solito per gli swatches lo uso come base. Come top coat è abbastanza lucido, in più, date le sue capacità “dissolventi” (anche sullo smalto, quando si applica su uno smalto il pennello resta sporco, come vedete dalla foto) lo uso anche sui nail wraps per farli accartocciare/aderire.

Last Monday I went to my local Schlecker to buy a “4” candle for my younger son's birthday cake :* and when I reached the counter I noticed a brand new Fairwind display.

It's not usual to find them in our stores, anyway manufacturer is Marabu Cosmetics, same company that released Emily polishes last year.

At first I pretended not seeing it and paid my candle, but after that I couldn't resist picking a couple polishes to check colors and then put them back.

At that point sales girl commented how cheap they were (1,29€ for 7ml) and I finally gave in to temptation.You see there are some empty spots in the display? My polishes.

I even asked her if I could take pics of the display (despite my shyness), I'm sure she thought I was a weirdo (actually I think that I really am)!

Anyway a nice feature of this collection is that polishes have different finishes, my picks in detail after the italian translation:

Lunedì sono andata alla Schecker a comprare la candelina per la torta del mio puffo piccolo (4!!!) e in cassa c'era questo super espositore Fairwind (della Marabu Cosmetics, gli stessi che l'anno scorso hanno prodotto gli smalti Emily).

Prima ho fatto finta di niente, poi dopo aver pagato mi son messa a guardare una boccetta alla volta, rimettendole ogni volta al loro posto. La cassiera a quel punto ci ha messo il “carico da 11” facendomi notare che costavano solo 1,29€ l'uno (per 7ml), potevo non prenderne almeno un paio?

La risposta nella foto, i buchi che vedete li ho fatti io. Tra l'altro (probabilmente arrossendo e sentendomi parecchio scema) ho chiesto anche alla cassiera se potevo fotografare l'espositore, avrà pensato che c'è gente veramente strana in giro :-P

Comunque la cosa interessante della collezione è che gli smalti hanno finish diversi, le mie scelte sono state:

• 50 Silk olive
  demi matt finish (Satin)
• 56 Tahitian pearl
  pearly gloss finish (Silky Pearl) I know it will be a frost, but I hope it has at least a pinch of green in it
  so che sarà un frost ma spero abbia almeno una punta di verde (come mi pare di intravedere)
• 57 Glamorous Moonshine
  duochrome gloss finish (Silky Chrome) yay, duochrome!!! I just hope it's not too frosty
  avete letto bene, duochrome!!! Ora spero solo che non sia un tripudio di perlato e segni delle pennellate.

BTW I think Maki from Candy Glaze found the same display, here is Velvet Navy, the demi matte blue she purchased.

Credo che Maki di Candy Glaze abbia trovato lo stesso espositore, lei ha comprato Velvet Navy, il blu satinato.
