Swatch: Essence TE Valentine-Who cares? - 02 Talk to the hand! 03 Crew love is true love

This time I'm quite "up to date": in fact I'm showing you my picks from Essence "Valentine-Who cares?" Trend Edition (it reached our stores last week - post with press release and products list here). Before talking about the polishes I must say that I didn't like very much the 9 ml (unusual size) bottle shape: I found the short/stocky cap quite unhandy.

Oggi un post "sul pezzo" (mi sono impegnata, eh :D): vi mostrerò infatti i due colori della Essence Valentine-Who cares? (post con elenco completo dei prodotti qui) che ho deciso di portare a casa settimana scorsa, quando ho trovato l'espositore bello pieno all'Ovs.

Anticipo che di queste boccette (formato ibrido da 9 ml) non ho amato molto la forma del tappo corto e largo, l'ho trovato scomodo da maneggiare.

Let's talk about shades: this is Talk to the hand! a slightly dusty steel blue, filled with bright blue shimmer.

Two coats for my swatches; although the label on cap emphasized the "metallic" side of this polish, I appreciated especially its satin finish.

Adding a top coat (picture below) will make the bright shimmer pop out more!

Parliamo invece dei colori e iniziamo con Talk to the hand!, un blu con una punta di grigio (tonalità leggermente sbiadita, se mi passate la traduzione di "dusty"), pieno però di shimmer blu elettrico. 

Due passate per questo swatch: la stesura è buona, lo smalto (anche se in evidenza sul tappo c'è scritto "metallic") ha una finitura satinata che mi è piaciuta molto. Aggiungendo una passata di top coat, si evidenzia il luccichio dello shimmer (ma è bello anche al naturale).

Crew love is true love is a poppy/coral red, it has a "latex" finish, not too mat; despite its finish I found it quite nice to apply (you have to be a little bit patient concerning drying time, especially with thick coats).

Two coats for my swatches, I tried it also with top coat (small picture below).

Crew love is true love è un rosso che definirei papavero/corallo, ha una finitura gommosa "latex", comunque piacevole da stendere e non troppo opaca (secondo me). Asciugatura non rapidissima, specialmente con strati corposi.

Due passate per questo swatch, nella foto piccola lo vedete anche in versione lucida.

Swatch: Essence Rebels TE - 02 Rebel Delight

I almost forgot I still have to show you two Essence Rebels polishes...Today it's Rebels Delight turn!

It's a nude beige with fine subtle silver shimmer (not much visible on nails); it dries “latex” (rubber satin) and is opaque in two coats. I found it perfect for a mannequin mani.

Me n'ero quasi dimenticata...Ma ho ancora un paio di Rebels da mostrarvi! Oggi il beige Rebels Delight; è un colore nude, praticamente da mannequin mani (quelle dove le unghie non si distinguono quasi dalle mani, tipo manichino ;-)), con uno shimmer argento molto fine e non molto visibile.

Anche questo asciuga “latex” cioè una specie di satinato gommoso, ed ha una buona copertura in due mani.

I didn't want to spoil it with Punk Royal, but for my nailblog's sake I tried it at least on two nails: left one coat, right two coats.

Mi è quasi dispiaciuto sovrapporgli il Punk Royal ma se non lo provassi che nailblogger sarei? Quindi stavolta mi sono limitata a due dita sole: sx una mano, dx due.

Solito “no comment”.

Swatch: Essence Rebels TE - 03 Peach Punk

Talking about oranges :-) after yesterday's wheel I'm back with Peach Punk, a polish from Essence Rebels Trend Edition: I noticed you liked it in my skittle preview so here it is (before #02)!

I found this polish not very easy to apply: be careful not to touch the same point twice or you will drag away the polish and leave bald spots (anyway, two coats in my pictures). 

Despite the extra care required I've been satisfied with the final result: also this polish (like Mauve like a rockstar) once dry has a rubber/satin finish (Essence calls it “latex”) and the fine silver shimmer gives the nails a delicate glow, avoiding the mat/dull effect.

Also on this one I tried applying one/two coats of Punk Royal and I have to say that more and more I think it looks awful on these polishes.

In tema di arancio, dopo la ruota di ieri vi mostro il Peach Punk, uno degli smalti che ha attirato più l'attenzione nel mio post “skittle” della Rebels Essence (quindi ve lo mostro prima dello 02).

La stesura non è delle più semplici, io ho dato due mani e consiglio di far attenzione a non ripassare sullo stesso punto mentre si stende, per evitare di trascinare via lo smalto e lasciare chiazze.

Anche questo, come il Mauve like a rockstar, ha una finitura satinato/gommosa (il “latex” Essence) e dello shimmer argento abbstanza delicato che impedisce allo smalto di avere un'aria troppo spenta.

Anche sopra questo ho provato il Punk Royal e la mia opinione si sta consolidando: fa schifo su questi latex!

Good morning!

It's Monday and usually to give myself a kick start I need something strong, as a cup of coffee (or two) or...A polish like this one!

It took me some time -ahem- but I finally swatched Fresh from Orly Happy Go Lucky (last Summer collection) that I own thanks to Jessika :-*

It's really a pretty light green (if you like this shade on nails), so bright! In two coats it gets quite opaque, even if surface remains just a little bit streaky (but I forgive it)!

To my surprise I found out that once dry it has a slightly satin/rubber finish.

Buongiorno!

Oggi è lunedì, giorno di solito tragico in cui (almeno a me) per ripartire servono dosi massicce di roba forte, tipo caffè...O uno smaltino come questo :-)

Con la solita “calma” (ehm, ce l'ho da ottobre, credo) ho swatchato Fresh, un Orly della Happy Go Lucky, collezione estiva dell'anno scorso, arrivato da me grazie a Jessika; è veramente un bel verde (per chi ama questo colore sulle unghie) chiaro ma vivace.
In due passate copre abbastanza, anche se la superficie resta un po' strisciata (però glielo perdono); tra l'altro mi ha sopreso la finitura da asciutto, leggermente satinata/gommosa.

I don't know if I'll be able to show you the Essence polishes from Rebels TE following the numerical order, anyway here is the first, Mauve like a rockstar.
It's a mauve-beige infused with silver shimmer; Essence labels its finish as  “latex”, to me it's a sort of rubber satin that reminded me of Orly Plastix or Illamasqua Theatre of the Nameless polishes, anyway not particularly mat.

Two coats and you're done, it dries quite quickly.

BTW I tried Punk Royal top coat on it (single and double layer), let's just say I'm not really excited about the result.

Non so se seguirò l'ordine numerico per mostrarvi gli smalti Essence della Rebels TE, intanto il primo, Mauve like a rockstar.

E' un malva beige reso interessante dagli shimmer argento e dalla finitura “latex” cioè una specie di satinato gommoso (potrebbe ricordare gli Orly Plastix o gli Illamasqua Theatre of the Nameless) comunque non molto opaco. Bastano due mani e asciuga rapidamente.

Ho provato ad applicarci sopra anche il Punk Royal, sia una sia due mani e devo dire che il risultato (ancora) non mi esalta.

Essence Rebels Trend Edition: skittle mani + Punk Royal

A quick skittle preview of Rebels Trend Edition from Essence (press release here); when I found the polish-full display I couldn't resist the temptation of buying all of them (I think it was because of “latex effect” label, I'm a polish-fetish :-P).

Two coats each:

Giusto una veloce anteprima “live” degli smalti della Trend Edition Rebel (cartella stampa qui), quando mi sono trovata davanti l'espositore non ho potuto fare a meno di portare a casa tutti e quattro i colori più il top coat...Come ho scritto su twitter, sarà stata la parola latex ad ammaliarmi :-P

Due mani ciascuno:

A few words about the top coat: it was the most coveted product of this collection for me, as I thought it was a sort of black jelly (as Dior Rock one). Unfortunately I found out it contains also big black glitters, that tend to apply very unevenly (all heaped-up or none at all).
Moreover it looks really streaky, or at least it turned out this way on Rebels polishes, used by itself it's somehow better.
Anyway it could be a "it's not you, it's me" circumstance, so I'll give this top coat another couple chances. :-)

x1 on/su Essence Rebels

Spenderò qui anche due parole sul top coat, per me una vera delusione. Pensavo fosse un jelly grigio (tipo il Rock di Dior) invece dentro ci sono anche dei glitter neri, che tendono a stendersi in modo veramente casuale, o niente o in blocco.

A parte questo il vero problema è che il top coat una volta applicato sullo smalto (o almeno su questi Rebels) viene fuori abbastanza strisciato, al limite dell'indecente. Peccato, perchè da solo non sarebbe male. 
Però potrebbe essere un caso di "non è colpa tua, sono io" per cui gli darò ancora un paio di possibilità.
