Kiko Velvet Satin Nail Lacquer (limited edition): skittle swatch

I'm super tired tonight, but I've been working on this post for quite a long time and I really really want to publish it...So I'll try to keep text short, please forgive my English mistakes!

Kiko just released the Velvet Satin polishes (this is supposed to be a limited edition) and here below you can find a brief description (from Kiko UK webpage):  

Nail lacquer for a semi-matte satin finish. The texture containing precious iridescent pearls brushes on smoothly and flawlessly.

Each of the delicate, elegant colours is precisely formulated to maximize the pigments' application, coverage and performance. Applying the nail lacquer is quick and easy, thanks to the bristle-packed brush. It's simple to take the perfect amount of product and brush it on the nails without leaving streaks.

The newly designed opaque glass bottle with a white cap is modern and minimalistic. Available in 10 amazing colours (after the Italian part):

Era da un po' che Kiko non lanciava degli smalti nuovi e così appena ho letto della nuova collezione mi sono precipitata in negozio a dare un'occhiata (e a spennellarmi le unghie ovviamente).

Qui riporto le informazioni che si trovano sulla pagina dedicata del sito Kiko:

Smalto per unghie dal finish satin semi-matte. La texture con preziose perle iridescenti ha una perfetta fluidità per un controllo ottimale in fase di stesura.

Ogni sfumatura, elegante e delicata, è calibrata con precisione per ottimizzare la scrivenza, la coprenza e la resa dei pigmenti. L’applicazione è agevole e veloce grazie al pennello che, con il suo elevato numero di setole, facilita il prelievo dello smalto, il rilascio sull’unghia e la stesura senza striature.

Gli smalti sono dieci, tutti satinati ma con caratteristiche diverse:

I obviously had to try them on, here below you can find my skittles: two coats for almost all of them. The first time I tried the nude ones I had no base, so you can see aaaaall the ridges - actually the ridges are slightly visible also when wearing base, it's probably a matter of finish :-/.

All of them have shimmer (but a couple seem almost creme) and they have a satin finish (691 to me looks very close to a suede); the light ones required a little bit more care to avoid patches (and 689-690 required an extra coat).

You know I love this type of finish, I find it very elegant <3, but nonetheless I tried them also with top coat: the shimmer pops out and some shades make an interesting turn.

Ci sono quelli semplici, per cui sembrano quasi dei laccati opachi (ottanio, rosso, beige...), quelli con lo shimmerino da leggero a praticamente impercettibile, e poi l'unico che mi sentirei di classificare "suede": il fucsia, che ha parecchie particelle argentate.

Va detto che la bottiglia di vetro satinato (tipo Zoya) è bella, ma non permette di capire a prima vista la composizione/colore dello smalto :-/

Qui li vedete dopo due passate abbondanti (praticamente tre per 689-690), la stesura mi è sembrata buona (i nude richiedono un minimo di attenzione in più per non lasciare buchi) e l'asciugatura rapida (considerando che li ho provati al volo in negozio).

La prima volta ho provato i nude senza base e le righe si notavano parecchio, tanto da farmeli riprovare una seconda volta. Le righe si notano comunque :-/, sarà per via del finish.

Pur essendo una fan di questa finitura, che trovo elegantissima, ho provato tutti i colori anche con una passata di top coat lucidante, che ha fatto emergere la bellezza -in alcuni casi nascosta- degli shimmerini, un paio di smalti hanno praticamente cambiato faccia!

My conclusions: this is a pretty collection, but I think I'll wait for sales or at least a % off to pick the shades I like the most, the full price is a little bit too high in my opinion.
And what do you think about the collection? Yay or nay (or maybe)?

Mia opinione finale sulla collezione: non è particolarmente innovativa, ma come sapete mi piacciono molto i satinati, e qualcuno di questi colori è davvero carino.
Penso che comunque aspetterò i saldi o almeno uno sconto sul prezzo di listino (4,90€) ;-)

Discontinued Day: Essence Nude Glam - 04 Iced Latte [swatch]

 

This time my pick for the Discontinued Day is a polish I swatched just few days ago: Essence Nude Glam n. 04 Iced Latte (the whole Nude Glam line has discontinued last Fall).

Iced Latte is an elegant rosy beige with medium coverage (two coats on index, middle and pinkie, three on ring finger), I think it's also a great base for nail art: I applied some "feather" water decals on it, and loved the result!

I know I'm not a nude polishes enthusiast, but I'm really satisfied about this purchase (and I have to check how many Nude Glams I bought, thanks to sales :-P).

Per il Discontinued Day di oggi ho pensato di mostrarvi uno swatch recentissimo (settimana scorsa): si tratta di uno degli smaltini Essence della linea Nude Glam, "discontinuati" in blocco lo scorso autunno.

Iced Latte è un elegante laccato beige rosato, mediamente coprente (due passate su tutte le unghie, tre sull'anulare). Secondo me ideale anche come base per nail art, io ho provato a metterci sopra i decals "piumati" della Born Pretty Store (e sono stata molto contenta del risultato)!

Non sono un'appassionata di "nudini", ma in questo caso credo sia stato un ottimo acquisto (e devo controllare quanti altri ne ho comprati, approfittando dei saldi :-P)!

E' tutto per questo appuntamento, buon lunedì e...Passate a curiosare anche dalle mie smaltamiche, chissà cos'avranno tirato fuori dai loro Helmer o cassetti!

Planned post: right now I'm on vacation (and enjoying some sea&sunbeams, I hope)! But once I return home I'll have to accept that summer is ending...And fall requires different shades on my nails, brown for instance, so here is my second brown-beige wheel!

Clash of the Greige-ans! Chanel 559 Frenzy vs. Dior 306 Gris Trianon [comparison - comparazione]

I've been thinking about writing this brief post for a while, attracted mostly by the title :D. The other day my friend F. gave me a little push, so here it is!

A couple months ago I decided to compare these two very special greiges: Chanel Frenzy (that my friend lent me) and Dior Gris Trianon.

If from the bottle they could look similar, once applied (two coats)...No way! They both are pretty, but Gris Trianon is definitely grey, whereas Frenzy looks more icy-rose beige.

Volevo da tempo scrivere questo breve post, se non altro per il titolo (in inglese - in italiano non riesco a trovare un gioco di parole che mi piaccia altrettanto) e la mia amica F. l'altro giorno mi ha finalmente dato l'ultima spinta :)

Qualche mese fa mi son trovata in mano due greige di quelli impegnativi: Chanel Frenzy (proprio della mia amica) e Dior Gris Trianon, così ho deciso di metterli fianco a fianco per controllarne le differenze. 

Se dalla boccetta potevano sembrare simili, dopo due passate si vede chiaramente che invece non se ne parla proprio! Entrambi belli, ma il Gris Trianon è grigio, mentre Frenzy resta un beige-ghiaccio rosato.

Swatch: Chanel 559 Frenzy

Super quick swatch today, a Chanel from Automne/Fall collection 2012, kindly lent me by my friend: Frenzy.

Actually my fav from the trio (Frenzy, Suspicious and Vertigo) was the latter (a super dark one, what a surprise :-P), but I never managed to find it in shops when I wanted to try it (and perhaps buy it, too).

Anyway I've been happy to try Frenzy, as I haven't been swatching Chanels for a while.

At first its small brush seemed weird to me (considering the monster brushes some brands opted for recently), but worked perfectly with the polish: two coats, no clean-up (also because with such a light color some "imperfections" are bearable).

After first coat it seemed a very light beige, then a second one made it more rosy-icy grey (according to the notes I wrote that day); as I mentioned application was a dream, the polish evens out by itself and turns out really really glossy. 

I must thank again my "Sis" for lending it to me for swatching ^_^ (and comparison - coming soon) purposes!

Velocissimo swatch di uno Chanel della collezione autunnale 2012, gentilmente prestato dalla mia amica Frens (ecco ti ho parzialmente nominata!!!!! :-*).

Dei tre usciti nella collezione (Frenzy, Suspicious e Vertigo) quello che mi ispirava di più era proprio l'ultimo, scurissimo (ma che strano), che però non sono mai riuscita a trovare in negozio quando lo volevo provare (e magari comprare)...

Comunque sono stata contenta di provare Frenzy, era da un po' che non mettevo uno Chanel e il pennello piccolo (rispetto a certi mostri visti di recente) mi è sembrato strano, in realtà la stesura è stata perfetta. Quello che vedete nelle foto è il risultato dopo due mani, senza pulizia di rifinitura (vabbè che essendo chiaro concede un po' di "margine" nell'applicazione).

Alla prima passata sembrava un beige chiarissimo, dopo la seconda (autolivellante) è andato più sul grigio-rosato-ghiaccio (copio i miei appunti di quel giorno, eh).

La cosa che mi ha colpito di più è stata la brillantezza...Lucido a specchio!!
