Swatch: Kiko 492 Rosso Perlato - Pearly Red + comparison

 

 

I'm quite determined to complete my 2010 swatching project, but don't worry: I will post also more recent polishes, as this Kiko that I bought a couple of months ago.

Unfortunately it is part of their "nail lacquer" line (the basic one, with square bottles), that is likely to be dismissed. All the shades have been on sale since last Spring (1€ for a 11 ml bottle) and I suggest keeping an eye on the sale shelves, because (at least here in Italy) the selection of colors changes from time to time, also according to each store stock, and some shades are really worth having!

Today I'm showing you #492 Pearly Red: it must be said that a Kiko "pearly" nail lacquer has not necessarily a pearly finish, often there are microglitters or tiny flakes involved *yay* ;-).

In fact this one has a light red base, filled with red, golden and pink microflakes.

Application is easy and even (see first coat picture); the nail polish is opaque in two coats and the surface remains smooth. After the second coat there is still a slightly visible nail line, but I didn't find it annoying.

Va bene il progetto 2010...Però ogni tanto bisogna postare anche qualcosa di più recente ;-)

Purtroppo quello di oggi, pur essendo un acquisto di un paio di mesi fa, è uno smalto che sta andando in pensione: si tratta di un Kiko della serie "boccetta squadrata" (i nail lacquer - la linea base fino a poco tempo fa). Questi smalti si trovano in offerta a un euro nei vari negozi (che assortiscono in base alla disponibilità e spesso cambiano i colori esposti), per 11 ml di ottimo prodotto è veramente un affare (certi colori sono veramente stupendi).

Oggi vi mostro il n. 492 Rosso Perlato: per fortuna nel tempo abbiamo imparato a tradurre il Kik-ese e sappiamo che perlato di solito corrisponde a microflakes o comunque non al perlato da "signora" che non piace a tutti (a me no, ad esempio).

In questo caso infatti abbiamo una base rosso chiaro piena di shimmerini/microparticelle rosso-dorate-rosa.

La coprenza è uniforme (v. foto prima passata) e lo smalto è facile da applicare; dopo due passate si intravede la linea dell'unghia, ma nel complesso non l'ho trovata fastidiosa. Anche se lo smalto è pieno di queste microscagliette la superficie "finale" è liscia.

When applying it on my "red wheel" I noticed it looked quite similar to Orly Emberstone, so here is a quick comparison:

• pointer Kiko 492 Rosso perlato
• middle Orly Emberstone

They are similar, but Emberstone has a different "blend" of particles, there are much more pink ones, so that the overall shade is different: here below direct sunlight and indoors pictures.

Quando l'ho messo sulla ruota dei rossi ho notato un certa somiglianza con Orly Emberstone, così taaac ecco qua una comparazione veloce (due passate):

• indice Kiko 492 Rosso Perlato
• medio Orly Emberstone

Sono simili, ma Emberstone ha una composizione di particelle differente, oltre alle dorate ce ne sono parecchie rosa, che nel complesso gli danno una tonalità diversa; qui sotto due foto sole/luce indiretta.

Swatch: A England Beauty never fails [#polish_abc] + comparazione

I fell in love with this polish the first time I saw its swatches on line (more than three years ago, time flies!). Beauty never fails is a very "me" color, a dark base with antique gold flakes that show green sparkles in sunlight.

Perfect in two coats, even if the first seemed a little bit sheer.

It's really beautiful, isn't it?

Lo smalto che vi mostro oggi è uno dei miei "colpi di fulmine": appena ho visto i primi swatch me ne sono innamorata e grazie a una delle ultime spedizioni dirette da A England (più di tre anni fa) questo gioiellino è arrivato a casa mia. 

Beauty never fails è un colore molto "da me": una base scurissima con flakes oro antico che al sole sembrano verdi. Due passate nelle foto, applicazione facile anche se la prima mano è risultata abbastanza leggera.

BTW I wrote it was a very "me" color...So "me" that I found out I already had a couple similar colors in my stash...And that I've already compared them: Essence Gold Old Buffy and Pupa 706. Argh!!

Here below you can find a quick -further- comparison of these three polishes: I have to say that Beauty never fails is slightly more "green" compared to the others, but if I ever arrange a blog sale, I would certainly let go at least one of them.

A proposito, dicevo che è un colore molto "da me". Così "da me" che dopo averlo provato ho realizzato di averne altri due pericolosamente simili. E non due a caso, ma due che avevo già verificato essere dupe tra loro: Essence e Pupa 706. Qui un'imprecazione ci sta tutta.

E anche una comparazione veloce: a voler essere pignoli un po' di differenza c'è...A parte il fatto che l'Essence è molto più liquido, a guardarlo bene Beauty Never Fails ha riflessi più verdi degli altri due, che sembrano più spenti e "oro antico".

Diciamo che quando/se deciderò di fare un blog sale di sicuro uno dei tre ci finirà dentro.

Swatch: Essence Effect Nail Polish 30 Lady Mermaid

I've decided that this week I'll be posting just Essence swatches (hoping that I'll be able to post more than twice :-D).

This is Lady Mermaid, a polish from their Effect Nail Polish line: it is labelled "Metallic Foil" and actually the base is quite sheer, but filled with tiny blue flakes. Three thick coats are enough to guarantee a good coverage.

As you can see the polish is sparkling under sunlight and looks more metallic indoors (a stunning "mermaid" shade IMO); at a certain angle it also has a slight purple hue.

More pics here below, at the bottom of the post you can find also my stamping/sheer tint experiment (with Mo You London Kitty plate n. 13 and a couple Astor polishes).

Ho deciso che questa sarà la settimana degli swatch Essence (sperando di riuscire a farne più di due :-D).

Oggi recupero alcune foto della scorsa estate per mostrarvi Lady Mermaid, uno smalto della linea Effect Nail Polish. L'etichetta lo segnala come "liquid foil" ed effettivamente lo smalto è composto da una base azzurrina piuttosto trasparente, ma strapiena di piccole scaglie/flakes.

Dopo tre passate si ha un colore coprente (non male, considerando quanto traslucida fosse la prima) con un bellissimo effetto metallico. Lo smalto cambia moltissimo a seconda dell'illuminazione: luccica al sole, ma in interni rivela la sua "sirenosità". Ha anche un leggero effetto duochrome, ad angolazioni estreme vira al viola caldo.

Vi lascio alle foto, in fondo trovate anche un esperimento fatto con stamping (plate MoYou London - Kitty n. 13) e un paio di smalti tipo "sheer tint" Astor (molto leggeri, quasi non si notano).

Swatch: Shaka 625 Golden Blackberry

A quick post today, to show you a nice Shaka nail polish. It's number 625 Golden Blackberry, you already got a glimpse of it in my Essence satin top coats comparison post. It has a mauve base (quite sheer) filled with golden micro flakes.

Here you can see it after three coats, according to different lighting and angle flakes are more or less visible, so the polish shifts from mauve to almost bronze.

Post veloce veloce oggi, per uno smalto Shaka molto particolare. L'avevate già intravisto nel mio post sulla comparazione dei top coat satinati Essence, si tratta del n. 625 Golden Blackberry. Ha una base malva non coprentissima, piena di micro flakes dorati.

Qui lo vedete dopo tre passate, a seconda dell'angolazione e dell'illuminazione i flakes sono più o meno visibili e lo smalto cambia decisamente aspetto, passando da viola chiaro a un quasi bronzo.

Last minute note: while I was arranging my swatchicles I noticed how close this Shaka is to Basic Beauty n. 115, see picture below (natural/weak Winter lighting).

Aggiunta dell'ultimo minuto: mentre sistemavo gli swatchicle mi sono accorta della somiglianza impressionante con il Basic Beauty n.115, foto con luce naturale smortissima, si vedono soprattutto le particelle dorate.

Swatch: Kiko 524 Blu Multicolor - Blue Multicolor

Three months without blogging (and almost without buying polishes)!

I really needed a "detox" period, but after enjoying the bonus free time and my "unplugged" evenings...I realized that I missed my small space here!

So I'm back for a quick "peekaboo" post, using the occasion to pick a couple pictures from my Drafts folder ^_^.

The polish I'm showing you is Kiko 524 Blue Multicolor, an amazing mix of blue and magenta micro flakes in a dark blue base; I couldn't stop staring at my nails while wearing it!

Two easy coats in my pictures (also with top coat on the last one).

P.S. check your local stores, in many countries Kiko polishes are on sale now!

Tre mesi senza blog (e quasi senza comprare smalti :-0)!!!

Avevo bisogno di un periodo di disintossicazione ;-), ma dopo essermi goduta il tempo libero extra ed il relax da "disconnessione" ho iniziato ad avere sempre più nostalgia di questo mio piccolo spazio.

Mi dispiaceva lasciarlo vuoto tanto a lungo, così rieccomi qua, per il momento con qualche smalto fotografato nei mesi scorsi (a dire il vero ne avrei parecchie, di foto solo da sistemare e postare, magari è l'occasione giusta per smaltirne un po').

Ma passiamo allo smalto: si tratta del bellissimo Blu Multicolor Kiko (n. 524), un mare di flakes blu e magenta in una base blu scuro. Veramente stupendo, con tutte quelle particelle colorate!

Due passate facili e via. Nell'ultima foto anche con l'aggiunta di top coat.

P.S. gli smalti Kiko di questa linea adesso sono in saldo a 1,90€, se vi capita fate un giro in negozio!

Swatch: Revlon Parfumerie Autumn Spice

I wish I could post it before it was officially Winter...But I couldn't make it! Anyway here is Revlon Autumn Spice (my first and only polish from their Parfumerie collection).

I found it quite easy to apply, despite the thin brush and the spherical cap (not that handy); the warm brown base is filled with tiny golden/iridescent flecks, here your can see the result after two coats.

I didn't apply top coat, but I'd suggest adding a coat to make the surface smoother.

As for the scent, I think any evaluations are strictly personal, anyway I found it delicate, sweet and slightly spiced, but not that long lasting (the day after it was gone, but again, maybe it's just me).

Speravo di riuscire a postarlo prima dell'inizio ufficiale dell'inverno, ma non ce l'ho fatta!

Comunque eccomi qui a mostrarvi il Revlon Autumn Spice, il mio unico acquisto della collezione Parfumerie.

Come smalto l'ho trovato molto facile da applicare, nonostante il pennello sottile e soprattutto il tappo tondo (non comodissimo da maneggiare).

E' un marrone caldo con piccolissimi glass flecks dorati/iridescenti (qui due passate); io non l'ho fatto (poi ho pasticciato con lo stamping), ma varrebbe la pena completare la stesura con una passata di top coat.

Per quanto riguarda il profumo: l'ho trovato delicato e gradevole, con una punta di indefinibile dolce/speziato...Comunque so che da questo punto di vista la valutazione è molto soggettiva (anche per quanto riguarda la persistenza, io mi devo essere assuefatta presto, non mi è sembrato durasse più di un giorno).
