Swatch: Shaka Gel Look 02 Red Sunset

 

I found a lot of swatches in my pictures folder (I've got a huge backlog :-0), but for today's post I chose a classic shade: red creme.

This one is from Shaka, an Italian brand that I really love (unfortunately their polishes are not so easy to find lately); it belongs to "Red Show" collection, that included seven "gel look" nail polishes and matching lipsticks (my skittle post is here).

This is n. 2 Red Sunset, a beautiful bright red, two easy coats for my swatches.

Sfogliando la mia cartella delle fotografie ho trovato swatch di tutti i tipi (quanto arretrato avevo/ho!!), ma per oggi ho scelto un super classico: laccato rosso.

Lo smalto in questione è uno Shaka (o per esteso Shaka Innovative Beauty), marchio italiano che adoro.

Questo è il n. 2 Red Sunset, della collezione Red Show (composta da sette smalti gel look e altrettanti rossetti abbinati - qui il mio skittle post); è un bel rosso intenso, fotografato dopo due facili passate.

Aggiungo una "breve" :-P digressione sul marchio, perché andando a cercare informazioni sul loro sito ufficiale ho visto che (ancora) non ci sono aggiornamenti relativi alle ultime collezioni (intendo quelle a cui ero arrivata io), tipo la Deep -già con le bottigliette nuove, al posto delle cilindriche- o questa Red Show, che risale all'inverno 2015-2016 e per la quale comunque era stata distribuita una cartella stampa con foto e informazioni.

In "compenso" alcuni prodotti nuovi si trovano sul sito Ovs, dal quale sono acquistabili on line, ma senza riferimenti precisi alle collezioni o ai colori (per dire ho trovato alcuni rossetti della Red Show, ma bisogna avere il codice dell'etichetta sottomano per capire che sono proprio loro).

Ultimo, ma non meno importante, mi pare che abbiano rivisto anche la politica distributiva, dal negozio Upim di Udine è sparito il mega espositore con tutti gli smalti ed il make up e nell'OVS del centro commerciale vicino casa sono rimasti solo gli accessori e la linea bagno.

La linea completa si può trovare sicuramente all'OVS di Trieste, ma onestamente 60km...Non è proprio dietro l'angolo.

Insomma Shaka ha prodotti molto validi secondo me (gli smalti sicuramente), ma qui sta diventando difficile da trovare, peccato!

Swatch: Liquid Sky Lacquer Papaya Smash

Today I'm showing you an indie holo from Liquid Sky Lacquer, a beautiful orange named Papaya Smash; actually the shade reminds me of pumpkins, I admit I would have loved a "Pumpkin Smash" polish.

The polish is quite pigmented and easy to apply, two coats for these swatches (and also top coat in the last pics).

Considering its "pumpkin-y" shade, I used it for a simple Halloween nail art (at the bottom of the post) and I really loved it!

Lo smalto di oggi è un olografico della Liquid Sky Lacquer, un bell'arancio linear che si chiama Papaya Smash, ma che a me ha fatto venire in mente la zucca (e Pumpkin Smash mi sarebbe piaciuto moltissimo, come nome).

Lo smalto è coprente (e di facile stesura), nelle foto lo vedete dopo le solite due passate, con e senza top coat.

Dato il colore "zuccoso" mi è sembrato la base ideale per una nail art di Halloween (foto in fondo al post); è stata una delle rare volte in cui sono stata molto soddisfatta del risultato, pur avendo usando una plate con disegni piccoli ;-).

Twinsie post: Gradient with butterfly wings

The word is a vampire...

Me and Ere (from Ere K.'s Beauty Shelf) found out that we had in common much more than our polish addiction...And decided to prepare a "Smashing Pumpkins Twinsie"!!

Actually my "gradient with butterfly wings" didn't come out that well, the first time I made a mess with polishes, a couple days later I tried again and just when I completed my gradient (tidier this time), the sun decided to disappear (for almost a week) ç_ç

Anyway my inspiration was the same: the dusky atmosphere of the video, Billy Corgan's silver trousers and obviouly the butterfly (the first time I tried also an orange accent).

I'm not good at free hand nail art (on the contrary, Ere is great, go check her Sailor Moon manicures!) so I relied on the MoYou London Kitty plate #13 (I bought the plate the same day it was released, I was in love with the butterfly wing patterns)!

Io ed Ere di Ere K.'s Beauty Shelf oggi vi presentiamo la nostra "Smashing Pumpkins Twinsie"! Perché non abbiamo in comune solo la passione per gli smalti!!

Purtroppo la mia "gradient with butterfly wings" non è riuscita benissimo, ci ho provato due volte e la prima ho fatto un pasticcio, la seconda (quella in alto)...niente sole dal momento in cui ho finito di tamponare la spugnetta per la gradient ç_ç, quindi scusate l'illuminazione pessima delle foto.

Comunque l'ispirazione è la stessa: le atmosfere grigie e cupe del video, i pantaloni argentati di Billy Corgan e la farfalla (la prima volta in forma di "accent colorata").

Siccome non sono brava come Ere (avete visto le sue manicure a tema Sailor Moon??), per il disegno mi sono affidata alla plate Kitty #13 della MoYou London (ho dovuto comprarla appena uscita, era una vita che volevo qualcosa con le ali di farfalla)!
Adoro la plate (anche se i disegni sono veramente grandi e si perde un po' la bellezza del motivo), sicuramente la userò di nuovo a breve!

Poteva mancare?

Swatch: Essence TE Aquatix: 04 Under the sea (the holo)

A couple months ago, when I already got over the Aquatix Trend Edition from Essence (not available in Italy)..I stepped into an almost empty display at Müller in Nova Gorica.

Lucky me, among the leftovers there was a single polish: the holo! I was incredulous, but I grabbed it immediately and put it in my basket...

The first day with decent sunlight I tried it, as I was really eager to find what sort of holographic this Essence was...The no-hassle kind!

In my pictures you will see the result after two easy coats, the brush is wide but flat (no "cat paw" brush).

Under the Sea is a light blue, slightly more greyish indoors, with a pretty holographic effect in direct sunlight...Not strictly linear, but not scattered either...I'd say the holo flash is quite "soft".

I'm really happy about this purchase, and also about Essence finally making holographics...I hope they release more shades soon!

Un paio di mesi fa, quando ormai non ci pensavo praticamente più...Al Müller ho trovato l'espositore della trend edition Essence Aquatix.

Erano rimaste un paio di cose, tra cui uno smalto...L'olografico! Mi è sembrato strano essere stata così fortunata, ho controllato che non fosse visibilmente manomesso e l'ho infilato rapidamente nel cestino.

L'ho provato appena possibile, ero davvero curiosa di vedere che tipo di olografico avessero fatto...Il tipo che si stende senza problemi <3

Quello che vedete è il risultato dopo due passate facili facili, il pennello è del tipo piatto e non larghissimo (niente pennellone zampa di gatto, alla Catrice). Lo smalto è azzurro chiaro, in interni ha anche una punta di grigio e sotto il sole ha un bell'effetto olografico. Non precisamente linear, ma neanche scattered, diciamo che fa una "fiammata" soffusa.

Sono veramente contentissima di averlo trovato, e che la Essence abbia iniziato a fare degli olografici decenti...Speriamo continuino!

P.S. a couple days later I tried it also as a stamping polish...It worked!

P.S. provato qualche giorno dopo come smalto da stamping: funziona!

• Plate: Bundle Monster BM02

Birthstone Challenge: May - Emerald

It's Birthstone Challenge time, again!! This month's birthstone is emerald, so here is my green mani. Actually I wasn't sure that my nail art was really worth showing, and I was tempted to post a beautiful green swatch I have in my drafts instead...But well, after all the struggle (and products involved :-P), I decided to post my mani (don't worry, the gorgeous green will come in the next days).

As I mentioned before, I used a lot of products: base color was Barry M 284 Emerald Green, on which I applied some Essence matt top coat; then using a MoYouLondon plate (the Festive #13 I won at their Easter Trivia) and Kiko Mirror 626 I stamped a geometrical pattern.

The only issue I had is...placing the pattern, I know (and you can see) I really suck at it, that's why I usually prefer patterns that don't require to be perfectly centered :-P

Last touch (almost): I added on each nail a Viva La Nails green rhinestone (from this very very old sample pack); to complete my mani I applied a coat of Essence top coat, but actually I didn't like the way it "smoothed" the rhinestones and made them look less sparkly (note to self: next time no top coat on rhinestones, no matter if I lose them sooner).

P.S. in case you're wondering...Yes, my nails are shorter, but against my will: last Saturday I had a ring nail-oven door accident, and I had to file them down.

Il tempo vola, ed è di nuovo Birthstone challenge! Per il post di oggi (a maggio è di turno lo smeraldo) mi trovo ad affrontare un dilemma: meglio una nail art a tema, riuscita così così...O uno swatch "semplicemente" verde, che mi piace da impazzire?

Alla fine, come vedete, ho deciso di propinarvi la nail art, se non altro perché ci ho messo veramente di tutto :-P e poi per gli swatch c'è sempre tempo.

Prodotti utilizzati (oltre alla base): smalto Barry M 284 Emerald Green, su cui ho steso (l'idea originale era di lasciarlo satinato) una passata di Essence matt top coat.

Poi stamping con il Kiko Mirror 626, utilizzando la plate MoYouLondon Festive #13 (ricevuta come premio del loro quiz pasquale su Twitter). L'unico problema che ho riscontrato in fase di stampa è stato -come si nota- l'allineamento del motivo (ecco perché prediligo quelli da non centrare, sono negata ç_ç).

Per finire (o quasi) uno strass verde (di Viva La Nails, parte di un sample pack vecchissimo); ultimo tocco una passata di top coat, che però ricoprendo lo strass gli ha dato un aspetto più da cabochon; avrei preferito che la sfaccettatura restasse evidente e la pietra più luccicante (memo per la prossima volta: niente top coat sugli strass, anche se poi mi durano di meno).

Ed è tutto, cercherò di pubblicare presto lo swatch figo (per farmi perdonare)! Intanto passare ad ammirare i post-smeraldo delle mie compagne di merende!!

P.S. Se le unghie vi sembrano più corte del solito...Lo sono! Sabato ho avuto un incontro spiacevole con lo sportello del forno: il dramma (per una nailblogger), ho perso un pezzo dell'anulare e ho dovuto accorciarle tutte!!!!!
