Swatch: Revlon Parfumerie Autumn Spice

I wish I could post it before it was officially Winter...But I couldn't make it! Anyway here is Revlon Autumn Spice (my first and only polish from their Parfumerie collection).

I found it quite easy to apply, despite the thin brush and the spherical cap (not that handy); the warm brown base is filled with tiny golden/iridescent flecks, here your can see the result after two coats.

I didn't apply top coat, but I'd suggest adding a coat to make the surface smoother.

As for the scent, I think any evaluations are strictly personal, anyway I found it delicate, sweet and slightly spiced, but not that long lasting (the day after it was gone, but again, maybe it's just me).

Speravo di riuscire a postarlo prima dell'inizio ufficiale dell'inverno, ma non ce l'ho fatta!

Comunque eccomi qui a mostrarvi il Revlon Autumn Spice, il mio unico acquisto della collezione Parfumerie.

Come smalto l'ho trovato molto facile da applicare, nonostante il pennello sottile e soprattutto il tappo tondo (non comodissimo da maneggiare).

E' un marrone caldo con piccolissimi glass flecks dorati/iridescenti (qui due passate); io non l'ho fatto (poi ho pasticciato con lo stamping), ma varrebbe la pena completare la stesura con una passata di top coat.

Per quanto riguarda il profumo: l'ho trovato delicato e gradevole, con una punta di indefinibile dolce/speziato...Comunque so che da questo punto di vista la valutazione è molto soggettiva (anche per quanto riguarda la persistenza, io mi devo essere assuefatta presto, non mi è sembrato durasse più di un giorno).

Birthstone Challenge August - Peridot : green layering Nogotok + Revlon

"Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one color, an olive green. The intensity and tint of the green, however, depends on how much iron is contained in the crystal structure, so the color of individual peridot gems can vary from yellow-to olive-to brownish-green. The most valued color is a dark olive-green."

This is what I found on Wikipedia...A quick Google image search then convinced me to represent August birthstone with a bright green (instead of the "Chanel Peridot dupe" I was thinking about), so here is my choice:

Nogotok Aromatic n.04 - a bright green with tiny black matte glitters (I will post about it soon done!) + Revlon Apple-tini Fizz, that added some sparkles with its flakes and made the shade a pinch more "olive".

I'm quite happy about the result (even if it's quite flashy and after all just a simple layering), now I can't wait to see my friends' gems, check them out on our Pinterest board!

Per la challenge di oggi ero partita proprio convinta: avrei usato uno dei dupe del famoso Chanel Peridot (i cosiddetti "peridupe" ;-P).

Un'occhiata alle immagini della pietra su Google però mi ha fatto cambiare idea, visto che i colori del peridoto (in italiano suona malissimo, lo so) comprendono le diverse tonalità del verde, ma quello più tipico (almeno in gioielleria) è un verde-giallo chiaro abbastanza intenso.

Quindi ho pensato di rappresentare questo particolare tipo di olivina (nome già più carino per una pietra) con un verde più sgargiante, il Nogotok Aromatic n. 04 (presto ve lo mostrerò da solo fatto!, ha degli interessanti micro glitter neri opachi), arricchito dai flakes del Revlon Apple-tini Fizz, che lo rende anche un pochino più "oliva".

Sono stata abbastanza contenta del risultato (non molto discreto, devo dire :D), anche se tutto sommato è un semplice layering...

Twinsie post: Under the sea - In fondo al mar

Twinsie post today! Thanks to Gold Francine, that suggested us an "Under the sea" theme.

I agreed, full of enthusiasm, then realized I had no idea about what to do on my nails (nail art is not my thing, you know). 

So here you will see both my "fail but thematic" mani and the "just inspied to...but nicer to wear" one.

Let's start with the first one...I was kinda improvising, so to begin I did a sort of gradient (with brush, I should have used sponge instead) with a blue jelly (Catherine Arley 155). Then I thought I could stamp something on it...But I found that even if I own a lot of plates, the patterns I needed were not on them. And I don't mean squids (that my kids were championing), but not even fishes or starfishes.

So out of desperation I stamped some seaweed-like lines and tried to draw some red stars (with my dotting tool). Then I realized I owned something just perfect for the mani: some crushed shell sent me by Viva La Nail (that I never used because they're not meant to decorate natural nails); I put them on my tips and decided to add a little silver fish on my ring nail: bad idea (and even worst was the one to draw its outline in black).

After taking a couple pictures I decided (also to hide a little bit the fish) to add a coat of Revlon Apple-tini Fizz, that gave my nails a "covered with seaweed" feeling. Still not happy about the result (even if I had fun taking pics with my kids' toy)...In other words: epic fail!

Post a tema condiviso oggi, grazie a Gold Francine che ci ha proposto l'idea di una manicure "in fondo al mar...".

Dopo aver aderito con entusiasmo il problema principale per me è stato pensare a cosa fare (la mia fantasia e le mie capacità per quanto riguarda la nail art sono pari a zero)...Qui vi farò vedere sia la manicure "tematica ma importabile" che ho fatto sabato, sia quella "ispirata alla lontana, ma portabile" provata domenica.

Partiamo con la prima, in realtà abbastanza improvvisata: ho iniziato con un gradient (fatto un po' così, con il pennello - avrei dovuto usare la spugna) di uno smalto blu jelly (Catherine Arley 155), pensando che poi me la sarei cavata con un po' di stamping.

E qui "cadde l'asino", perché nei miei millemila dischetti non c'era nemmeno uno dei disegni che speravo di usare: non dico i calamari e le seppie - caldeggiati dai miei figli - ma neanche pesciolini o stelle marine :-(

Quindi (presa dalla disperazione) mi sono arrangiata stampando delle pseudo alghe (quelle lineette verde-dorato) e cercando di disegnare delle stelline rosse (con il dotting tool).

A quel punto l'idea: utilizzare quei frammenti di conchiglia di Viva la Nails che avevo nel cassetto da tantissimo (è specificato che sono da utilizzare solo per ricostruzioni). Ho capito perché: quei pezzettini si impigliano ovunque! Non contenta ho voluto provare ad aggiungere un pesciolino sull'anulare. Disastro, soprattutto quando mi è venuta l'idea di tracciargli il contorno.

Fatte alcune foto, siccome non mi pareva ancora abbastanza (e volevo pure nascondere il pesce) ho aggiunto una passata di Revlon Apple-tini Fizz, che ha conferito un'aria verde-alga al tutto.

Epic fail :( Anche se mi sono divertita a fare le foto con l'orca, al posto della classica boccetta.

Più sotto l'alternativa meno a tema.

Crushed Shell*

The other thing I tried was very simple (and pretty much OT): an azure shimmer base (a still nameless frankenpolish I made, unfortunately the flakes in it were covered by the pigment) on which I applied some blue and green glitter, using few strokes of Shaka Mermaid.

Yes, because "under the sea" makes me think immediately to The Little Mermaid movie, among my favorites from the "old Disney" ones.

L'altra manicure invece non è altro che una base azzurro intenso shimmer (un franken recente e ancora senza nome, con flakes purtroppo coperti dal pigmento) a cui ho aggiunto alcune pennellate del glitter Shaka Mermaid. Perché non so a voi, ma a me "in fondo al mar" fa pensare subito al film Disney, uno dei miei "vecchi" preferiti, tra l'altro.

E' tutto, fatevi un giro dalle altre "sirenette" elencate sotto, ne vale sicuramente la pena!

Swatch: Revlon Pineapple Fizz + layering

This is a polish I own since...A lot of time! It's all *Ky*'s fault fault, she tempted me into buying five of them last year...How was I supposed to resist a mix of scented polish and flakes?

This one smells obviously like pineapple (or better pineapple candy).

First I tried it on a couple polishes I was swatching then; here I will show it also on its own, one to three coats and on a random skittle I made for the occasion!

Ho questo smaltino (per modo di dire, son 14,7 ml) da tantissimo. I Fizz sono usciti l'anno scorso e se ne ho comprati cinque è tutta colpa di *Ky*, che mi ha tentato tantissimo con i suoi post :-P

Come potevo resistere al mix di smalto profumato e micro flakes? Questo ovviamente sa di ananas, anzi di caramella all'ananas.

L'ho provato come top coat su un paio di smalti a caso (swatches che avevo fatto in quel periodo, uno praticamente nero e uno giallo), ma qui ve lo faccio vedere anche da solo, in una gradazione da una a tre mani.

E su una skittle improvvisata!

ABC Challenge: E - Revlon Emerald City

First mani: three coats - weak sunlight
Prima prova - tre passate, sole spento

Today we reached the fifth letter of the alphabet so...E as Emerald City from Revlon, a polish I fell in love with after seeing a swatch somewhere (in case you like it and contemplate purchase mind the label, as there's another green polish from Revlon named just “Emerald”, actually quite different).

Emerald City is a forest green with bright green shimmer and it dries satin (but on the cap they wrote “matte”).
The first time I tried it I applied three coats (that day the sun was weak so I wasn't happy about my pics) but for these swatches I stopped after two thick coats.

I absolutely love this satin finish, but for the sake of blogging :-P I tried applying a shiny top coat on it (pics below).
I'm still wearing on my nails right now (satin on left hand and shiny on right one) and I really really like it, can't believe it took me so long to swatch it. Anyway thanks to this challenge I'm finally trying some polishes that have been resting in my drawers for a long long time.

Buongiorno e buon lunedì!

Siamo arrivate alla E, per la quale ho scelto la Revlon con il suo Emerald City, smalto che ho comprato, dopo averlo cercato per un po', perché l'avevo visto su qualche blog (attenzione ce n'è un altro che si chiama solo Emerald ed è diverso).
Emerald City è un bel verde bosco con un leggero shimmer verde brillante ed ha la particolarità di avere, una volta asciutto, una bella finitura satinata (loro sul tappo scrivono matte, vabbè); la prima volta che l'ho provato ho dato tre passate, per questo swatch ne sono bastate due "sostanziose".

La finitura satinata secondo me è stupenda, ho provato comunque ad aggiungergli una passata di top coat lucidante (un Essence fuori produzione), foto in fondo! Ce l'ho sulle mani adesso (satinato a sx e lucido a dx :-P) e mi piace da morire!

Grazie a questa challenge ho finalmente provato un sacco di smalti che tenevo a “dormire” nei cassetti da parecchio tempo, spero piaccia anche a voi  e....Non dimenticate di controllare cos'hanno scelto le altre smaltare per questa lettera!

Pink Wednesday NOTD: Revlon 051 Starry Pink

Wednesday pink post! Also this week I made it :-) phew! *relieved face*
I don't own really many pink polishes, this one arrived here thanks to Candy Coated Tips Halloween giveaway, it's Revlon 051 Starry Pink.

It's full of silver glitters (a mix of hesagonal and small ones) but they are floating in a light lilac/pink base so theit sparkle is a little bit softened; polish is fluid but easy to apply and you can reach a good coverage in two coats, even if nail line is still visible.

I tried applying also three coats, you can check the different result in my pictures (I prefer the more opaque version).

I liked this polish very much, I also have to point out that removal (with my usual system) hasn't been that difficult (yay)!

 E anche per oggi il rosa è servito (parte la musichetta, ve la ricordavate voi nate nel 197_ ??).

Non ce ne sono moltissimi nei miei cassetti, questo è arrivato qui grazie al giveaway di Candy Coated Tips, si tratta del Revlon 051 Starry Pink.

E' pieno di glitter argento (un mix di esagonali e mini) ma in una base rosa lilla chiarissimo che li smorza leggermente; consistenza fluida ma gestibile, in due mani si ha un colore omogeneo,  comunque con la linea dell'unghia ancora visibile.

Ho provato a stendere anche tre passate, nelle diverse foto vedete la differenza (ovviamente io preferisco la versione più coprente)!

A me è piaciuto molto e segnalo che la rimozione (con il mio solito sistema) non è stata neanche particolarmente faticosa. Evviva!
