Swatch: [b] basic EarthLifeStyle LE: Green earth **discontinued day**

Welcome to another "group post"! This time we decided to focus on a discontinued make up product (not just polishes) and for the occasion I dusted off these pictures of a [b] basic polish: Green Earth.

I think this polish is really a square discontinued: not only it was part of the limited edition EarthLifeStyle, but also the chain store Schlecker that sold them has been closed down (actually they changed their name in Dayli but - at least in my local store - there haven't been any new arrivals since then and just few unsold pieces remain).

Anyway back to our Green Earth: pictures are really old; at that time I wasn't satisfied about the sunlight picture, a little bit washed out, but I think that it doesn't matter that much, now that the polishes is not sold anymore. And it's a pity!! I tried it on a wheel to watch it IRL again and well, this olive green was perfect and shiny in two easy coats.

Benvenute ad un altro appuntamento di gruppo! Il tema è "discontinued" per cui ognuna di noi posterà uno smalto (o anche del make up) che ora non si trova più in commercio.

Nel mio caso si tratta di un super discontinued, visto che il qui presente Green Earth non solo si trattava di un'edizione limitata (la EarthLifeStyle) del marchio [b] basic, ma da quando ho comprato lo smalto è stata "discontinuata" anche la catena che la vendeva, la Schlecker. Ora si chiama Dayli e almeno da me è messa abbastanza male (ci sono solo residui [b] basic vecchi), mentre so che da altre parti hanno aggiunto in assortimento i Chresy (altra marca low cost che vale la pena provare).

Torniamo allo smalto, il cui swatch era stato lasciato indietro per problemi fotografici (non mi piaceva la resa del colore nella foto con il sole, ma visto che ormai non si trova più...). Si tratta di un verde militare spento, facile da stendere nonostante flacone e pennello piccoli. L'ho riprovato ora (su ruota) per rivederlo ed è bello lucido anche da asciutto: è proprio un peccato che le cose siano andate male a quelli della Schlecker :( i loro smalti mi piacevano parecchio.

And just to add more "discontinued", a comparison I made at that time...With a Kiko that has been cut out too: n. 325.

Anyway they were not dupes: Kiko one is more grey and pigmented (almost a one coater); you can see two coats of each in my pictures.

E per aggiungere ancora un tocco di "fuori produzione", una comparazione fatta con un Kiko, il 325, anche lui uscito dalla cartella colori (era proprio destino)!

Comunque non si trattava di un doppione, il Kiko era molto più grigio e pigmentato (quasi un one-coater, anche se nella foto vedete il risultato di due mani ciascuno).

An impulse buy today: I bought this mini polish at a Schlecker shop recently, I love their tiny bottles and well, this one was still missing in my stash.

It's a hot/brink pink with a metallic/frost finish, similar to the mini green and blue ones.

The polish is perfectly opaque in two coats and even if there are visible brush strokes, they are not unbearable and I ended up liking it more than I expected. I don't regret spending 0,99€ for this one ;-)

Quello che vi mostro oggi è un recente "acquisto d'impulso"...Questo mini Schlecker mi mancava (l'ho già detto, adoro le loro bottigliette) e così ecco qui il n. 4, un rosa carico metallizzato/perlato.

E' molto pigmentato (in fondo trovate la foto senza bottiglia fatta dopo la prima passata) e la finitura ricorda quella di verde e azzurro della serie; due passate ed è perfetto, i segni delle pennellate non sono poi così tremendi e il risultato mi è piaciuto più di quanto mi aspettassi.

P.S. Tanto per chiudere con una nota polemica, non è che veda poi tutta questa differenza tra questo smaltino da 0,99€ (5ml) e un blasonato "cromato" di quelli usciti di recente da noi (che costa 4-5 volte tanto?)...


P.S. n. 2: il sondaggio per decidere i prossimi tre post (in alto a destra) è quasi chiuso, pare che gli holo siano i preferiti, ma avete ancora tempo per dire la vostra!

Last weekend the weather has been cloudy& rainy here (actually I'm kinda happy about that, last months have been really dry and plants/meadows needed some water) and I couldn't swatch my latest purchases (obviously today the sun was shining outdoors, and I was stuck in my office :-/).

Anyway I started sorting my old pictures and decided to finally post this silver polish from [b] basic (the super cheap brand sold at Schlecker - 0,99€ x 5ml).
It's quite pigmented (two coats in my pictures) and I think it could be a good base for stamping or nail art, even if I'd suggest using a ridge filler base, because the polish tends to highlight, instead of minimizing, nailbed imperfections.

Purtroppo qui lo scorso weekend ha piovuto un sacco (sono comunque contenta, prati e piante avevano bisogno di un po' d'acqua) e quindi non ho potuto swatchare le ultime cose acquistate (ovviamente oggi il sole splendeva meravigliosamente, ed io ero chiusa in ufficio :-/).

Mi sono comunque decisa a mettere ordine e postare qualcuna delle vecchie foto, come questo smaltino [b] basic (quelli da 0,99€ alla Schlecker) di colore argento.
E' abbastanza pigmentato (due mani nelle foto) e non mi è dispiaciuto l'effetto sull'unghia, diciamo che potrebbe essere una buona base per stamping o altre amenità. Consiglio però l'utilizzo di un ridge filler, perché questo smalto fa risaltare, piuttosto che nascondere, le irregolarità dell'unghia.

As the first time I swatched it I wasn't really satisfied about the pictures, I tried it another time, doing also a comparison with a similar silver, the Pupa I found in the crackle kit.

It's not very easy to spot the difference, but Pupa is a little bit more “silver foil”; considering that a Pupa polish costs three-four times a [b] basic, I admit I would have expected a more striking difference.

BTW as soon as the sun comes back I'll start swatching again. Let me know what you are more interested in, voting my poll (right side bar, above). Thanks!

Pupa vs. [b] basic

Lo swatch è stato fatto in due momenti diversi (le foto del primo non mi piacevano tanto) e la seconda volta l'ho comparato con un altro argento, il Pupa del kit Crackle. A guardarli da vicino si nota una leggera differenza, il Pupa è un po' più foil e argentato, ma niente di particolarmente diverso (mi sarei aspettata qualcosa di più eclatante, visto che il [b] basic è uno smalto super economico ed il Pupa...non tanto).

A proposito, appena tornerà il sole mi precipiterò in giardino a swatchare, fatemi sapere cosa preferireste vedere votando il sondaggio in alto a destra ;-) Grazie!

[comparison] Gold Old Buffy vs....

ENG When trying Gold Old Buffy, that here became the most hard to find of Vampire's Love Trend Edition, I decided to check if I already had something similar in my stash, here is my first attempt:

ITA Quando ho provato per la prima volta Gold Old Buffy della Vampire's Love Essence ho pensato che fosse veramente un colore particolare (tra l'altro uno dei primi a sparire dai vari display qui) e ho cercato di compararlo con smalti che mi sembravano simili:

ENG As you could see they are quite different from Gold Old Buffy, as Edyta is more green and metallic, Wagon Trail is darker and with shimmer instead of micro flakes and finally Desierto Seco is definitely on the brown side.

ITA Come vedete sono tutti molto diversi, Edyta è più verde e metallico, Wagon Trail scuro e con shimmer invece di micro flakes e infine Desierto Seco vira decisamente al marrone rispetto a Buffy.

ENG So I thought this really was a unique color, until I tried a Pupa polish I found on sale and tadaaaa...

ITA Quindi Gold Old Buffy mi è parso un colore veramente unico...Finchè non ho provato uno smaltino Pupa preso ai saldi...Tadaaa:

ENG Judging by the bottle the particles seem different as Pupa ones are bigger, but once on nails they are so similar (Pupa is a tad darker) and have the same “fading” problem on tips, too (after two coats).
To me these two can be labelled as twins (or dupes), what to you think?

ITA Dalle bottiglie sembrano leggermente diversi (le particelle del Pupa sono più grandi) ma una volta sulle unghie sono praticamente identici – il Pupa è leggerissimamente più scuro - hanno perfino lo stesso problema delle punte scolorite dopo due passate! Che vi pare? Io direi decisamente "gemelli"!

[b] Basic EarthLIFEStyle LE - Red Earth

When I bought [b] Basic EarthLIFEStylepolishes it was clear I did it more for the sake of collecting than for polishes themselves, as they didn't seem that appealing to me, but once I tried them I had to change my mind; after BlackEarth today I'll show you Red Earth.

In the bottle it seemed almost separated but once applied it turned out a warm brown, really creamy and pigmented, a perfect one coater!

A couple days after having swatched it, I tried also Black Earth and as I noticed that second coat made it really deeper, I decided to try again Red Earth, this time applying two coats: color becomes more intense, just like milk chocolate (pictures at bottom of the post).
A pretty winter color, if you like these shades.

Come si era capito dal primo post relativo a questa collezione avevo comprato gli smalti della [b] Basic EarthLIFEStyle più per “collezionismo” (o smalto-mania) che per attrazione verso il contenuto delle boccette e invece mi sono dovuta ricredere una volta provati i colori: dopo il Black Earth, ecco oggi il Red Earth.

Nella boccetta sembrava quasi scomposto, ma alla prima mano questo smalto si rivela cremoso e pigmentato, un bel marroncino caldo perfettamente coprente.

L'ho etichettato come “da una passata", ma qualche giorno dopo, visto come si era scurito il Black Earth alla seconda mano, ho deciso di riprovarlo con due mani: il colore si intensifica e diventa quello del cioccolato al latte. Molto carino, per chi ama questi colori (adatti soprattutto all'inverno, secondo me).
