Swatch: [b] basic EarthLifeStyle LE: Green earth **discontinued day**

Welcome to another "group post"! This time we decided to focus on a discontinued make up product (not just polishes) and for the occasion I dusted off these pictures of a [b] basic polish: Green Earth.

I think this polish is really a square discontinued: not only it was part of the limited edition EarthLifeStyle, but also the chain store Schlecker that sold them has been closed down (actually they changed their name in Dayli but - at least in my local store - there haven't been any new arrivals since then and just few unsold pieces remain).

Anyway back to our Green Earth: pictures are really old; at that time I wasn't satisfied about the sunlight picture, a little bit washed out, but I think that it doesn't matter that much, now that the polishes is not sold anymore. And it's a pity!! I tried it on a wheel to watch it IRL again and well, this olive green was perfect and shiny in two easy coats.

Benvenute ad un altro appuntamento di gruppo! Il tema è "discontinued" per cui ognuna di noi posterà uno smalto (o anche del make up) che ora non si trova più in commercio.

Nel mio caso si tratta di un super discontinued, visto che il qui presente Green Earth non solo si trattava di un'edizione limitata (la EarthLifeStyle) del marchio [b] basic, ma da quando ho comprato lo smalto è stata "discontinuata" anche la catena che la vendeva, la Schlecker. Ora si chiama Dayli e almeno da me è messa abbastanza male (ci sono solo residui [b] basic vecchi), mentre so che da altre parti hanno aggiunto in assortimento i Chresy (altra marca low cost che vale la pena provare).

Torniamo allo smalto, il cui swatch era stato lasciato indietro per problemi fotografici (non mi piaceva la resa del colore nella foto con il sole, ma visto che ormai non si trova più...). Si tratta di un verde militare spento, facile da stendere nonostante flacone e pennello piccoli. L'ho riprovato ora (su ruota) per rivederlo ed è bello lucido anche da asciutto: è proprio un peccato che le cose siano andate male a quelli della Schlecker :( i loro smalti mi piacevano parecchio.

And just to add more "discontinued", a comparison I made at that time...With a Kiko that has been cut out too: n. 325.

Anyway they were not dupes: Kiko one is more grey and pigmented (almost a one coater); you can see two coats of each in my pictures.

E per aggiungere ancora un tocco di "fuori produzione", una comparazione fatta con un Kiko, il 325, anche lui uscito dalla cartella colori (era proprio destino)!

Comunque non si trattava di un doppione, il Kiko era molto più grigio e pigmentato (quasi un one-coater, anche se nella foto vedete il risultato di due mani ciascuno).

Orly Hope and Freedom Fest: first part - primo tempo [swatch]

I'm back :) after this "one week" hiatus, with the first part of Orly Hope and Freedom Fest polishes (here my press release post). Actually I was planning to show you the "cold shades" first, but as I'm not 100% satisfied with some pictures, I decided to start with the warm/sunny/glittery ones. BTW as usual all pics are without top coat.

Rieccomi qui, dopo una settimana di astinenza (diciamo per cause di forza maggiore), a farvi vedere tre smalti della Orly Hope and Freedom Fest (qui il post con la cartella stampa). A dire il vero avevo pensato di iniziare con i tre colori più "freddi", ma non sono contenta di come sono venute le foto del verde, così ho deciso di passare a questo trio, i colori più solari/luccicanti. Come al solito, foto "nudi e crudi", senza top coat.

A proposito, spero che da voi non stia piovendo troppo, qui un pomeriggio brutto come non se ne vedevano da un bel po'...

ELATION GENERATION

A strawberry-watermelon pink with holo glitter; after two coats there was still some VNL but no streaks or patches (after all the polish must be sheer to let the glitter sparkle).

Judging by promo pics I wasn't completely won over by this shade, but after trying it I really loved how it looked on me (even if I'm so pale), I think it will be great next Summer, too.

I must also mention how quickly it dried: after swatching it I had to do some gardening, so I put on my gloves and started working (on my tomatoes plants ^_^). Well, two hous later I took them off and it was almost perfect (check picture).

Rosa "fragola-anguria" con glitterini holo; dopo due passate l'unghia era traslucida ma uniformemente coperta (niente strisciate); effettivamente lo smalto di base non potrebbe essere troppo coprente, altrimenti addio luccichii holo.

A prima vista non ero convintissima fosse un colore da "me",  ma una volta provato mi è piaciuto davvero (nonostante la mia carnagione pallida), credo sarà ottimo anche per l'estate.

Menzione d'onore all'asciugatura lampo: poco dopo aver fatto le foto mi sono messa i guanti da giardinaggio (dovevo piantare i pomodori ^_^). Dopo due ore li ho tolti, aspettandomi di tutte...Invece lo smalto era praticamente intatto (v. foto).

PEACEFUL OPPOSITION

Milky white (perhaps a super light grey), with silver hexagonal and square glitters.

Sheer but not streaky, as you can see on my "first coat" picture: I'd suggest picking polish and painting one nail at a time, to avoid the uneven distribution of glitters, as it happened on my ring (few) and middle (too many) nails, even if all settled with second coat.

For my swatch I applied two coats, then tried four just on my ring finger. Actually I think I prefer the two coats version (also because these glitters are not of the "easy peasy to remove" kind).

Un bianco lattiginoso (forse addirittura un grigio chiarissimo, per lo meno non un bianco "lenzuolo") con glitter esagonali e quadrati argento.

Leggero ma assolutamente perfetto come stesura (v. foto della prima mano). Magari meglio ruotare un po' il pennello nella bottiglia per pescare un po' di glitter ogni volta e non trovarsi come me con tanti sul medio e pochi sull'anulare, cosa che comunque si sistema alla seconda passata.

Io mi sono fermata a due mani, ma ho provato l'effetto di quattro sull'anulare (foto in fondo).

Mi è piaciuto l'effetto misto "smalto tranquillo + glitter", per cui l'ho tenuto come manicure da lavoro. E proposito di lavoro, per toglierlo meglio munirsi di un po' di pazienza :) 

MELODIOUS UTOPIA

Canary (or lemon) yellow with pink microglitters. It's quite translucent, here I applied three coats, but with smaller, narrower or shorter nails you should get away with just two.

This shade caused me a cognitive dissonance problem: :-P I usually don't like yellow on my nails, but I love polishes with such contrasting microglitter. And this pink hue is really visible, especially under sunlight!

Giallo canarino (o limone) con microglitter rosa, finish traslucido. Tre mani nelle mie foto, su unghie più strette o corte dovrebbero bastarne due.

Come colore mi ha messo in crisi: il giallo sulle unghie è uno dei colori che mi piace di meno, però adoro i riflessi a contrasto e qui il rosa è davvero molto evidente, con un effetto diffuso all'ombra e più "flash" al sole.

Swatch: Dior 355 Rosy Bow

Watermark experiments - Esperimenti di watermark...:)

I already showed you the grey polish (Gris Trianon) from Dior Chérie Bow Spring collection (here my press release post), today is pink time with Rosy Bow (the brightest one). 

It's a "Barbie pink", very pretty and shiny, perfect for a sunny Spring day (two coats, no top coat, as usual).

BTW I might be a "purist", but so far I've always preferred showing polishes on their own, whereas there are a lot of bloggers that ordinarily use top coat (so polishes look always shiny).

What do you think about that? Do you prefer seeing natural or top coated swatches?

Della collezione primaverile Dior Chérie Bow (qui il post sulla cartella stampa) vi ho già fatto vedere il grigio Gris Trianon, oggi tocca ad uno dei due rosa, il più carico: Rosy Bow.

Un colore che definirei "rosa Barbie", molto carino e lucido (nelle foto il risultato dopo due passate, niente top coat): perfetto per una giornata di sole primaverile.

E a proposito di top coat, finora ho fatto la "purista" mostrandovi gli smalti sempre da soli (tranne casi di nail art o finiture particolari), però ho notato che tante blogger usano sempre il top coat (e ovviamente gli smalti risultano belli lucidi, a prescindere dalla finitura di partenza).

Che cosa ne pensate, preferite gli swatches al naturale o già "lucidati"?

La questione mi interessa molto, se vi va votate il sondaggio sulla barra destra :-) grazie!
