Swatch: A England Beauty never fails [#polish_abc] + comparazione

I fell in love with this polish the first time I saw its swatches on line (more than three years ago, time flies!). Beauty never fails is a very "me" color, a dark base with antique gold flakes that show green sparkles in sunlight.

Perfect in two coats, even if the first seemed a little bit sheer.

It's really beautiful, isn't it?

Lo smalto che vi mostro oggi è uno dei miei "colpi di fulmine": appena ho visto i primi swatch me ne sono innamorata e grazie a una delle ultime spedizioni dirette da A England (più di tre anni fa) questo gioiellino è arrivato a casa mia. 

Beauty never fails è un colore molto "da me": una base scurissima con flakes oro antico che al sole sembrano verdi. Due passate nelle foto, applicazione facile anche se la prima mano è risultata abbastanza leggera.

BTW I wrote it was a very "me" color...So "me" that I found out I already had a couple similar colors in my stash...And that I've already compared them: Essence Gold Old Buffy and Pupa 706. Argh!!

Here below you can find a quick -further- comparison of these three polishes: I have to say that Beauty never fails is slightly more "green" compared to the others, but if I ever arrange a blog sale, I would certainly let go at least one of them.

A proposito, dicevo che è un colore molto "da me". Così "da me" che dopo averlo provato ho realizzato di averne altri due pericolosamente simili. E non due a caso, ma due che avevo già verificato essere dupe tra loro: Essence e Pupa 706. Qui un'imprecazione ci sta tutta.

E anche una comparazione veloce: a voler essere pignoli un po' di differenza c'è...A parte il fatto che l'Essence è molto più liquido, a guardarlo bene Beauty Never Fails ha riflessi più verdi degli altri due, che sembrano più spenti e "oro antico".

Diciamo che quando/se deciderò di fare un blog sale di sicuro uno dei tre ci finirà dentro.

Discontinued Day: Pupa 812 Violet Déco [swatch]

Despite my renewed interest in planners :-P I found myself completely disorganized when it came to our April Discontinued Day date!!!

So I decided to pick some old pics that were waiting just for my good will, as the polish was part of a collection that I partially showed just on a previous DD post.

I wish I could post both polishes that were missing, but I really couldn't make it on time!

So today we have Pupa 812 Violet Déco (from Christmas 2012 collection, you can find its mates 810 and 811 here).

Also this one is a "melange" polish, with a sheer dark base (not really sure about the exact shade) filled with sparkling purple, light blue and copper micro flakes. 

As I wrote the polish is not very opaque, here I applied two coats on middle, pinkie and three coats on index and ring finger. Very pretty, probably it could be nice also as a layering polish...

Nonostante la mia ritrovata passione per le agende :-P non sono riuscita ad organizzarmi e mi sono trovata impreparata per l'appuntamento di aprile del Discontinued Day...

E così ho pensato di cogliere l'occasione per recuperare delle vecchie foto e iniziare a chiudere una parentesi aperta proprio durante uno scorso DD.

In realtà avrei voluto chiuderla del tutto, ma non riesco a proprio a fare il post doppio in tempo!

Oggi vi mostrerò un altro Pupa Déco (collezione natalizia 2012, 810 e 811 li trovate qui), il numero 812 Violet Déco, un viola "melange" (non sono riuscita a capire bene quale fosse il colore scuro di base) non coprentissimo e pieno di microglitter cangianti viola, azzurri e rame.

Nelle foto vedete il risultato di due (medio, mignolo) e tre passate (indice, anulare). Anche questo molto carino e probabilmente interessante anche come smalto da layering.

E' tutto per oggi, passate a curiosare anche dalle mie smaltamiche, chissà cos'avranno tirato fuori dai loro Helmer o cassetti!

Discontinued Day: Pupa 810 Copper Déco - 811 Emerald Déco

I'm so glad Gnoma decided to run these Discontinued Days (BTW check my fellow bloggers' picks listed below), otherwise I would have felt quite ashamed to show you just now these polishes from Pupa's last festive collection (Christmas 2012).

At that time I bought all four polishes, and I was planning a big post including all of them, but yesterday I had a busy day and I found myself in front of my laptop just at night, furthermore with a bad headache. So I just managed to post about two of them; the rest will follow, maybe for our next discontinued day (or maybe sooner, I have way too many discontinued polishes to post about).

Per fortuna c'è il discontinued day organizzato (e alla grande, credetemi, quelle simpatiche iconcine lì sotto - che vi invito a cliccare - non si creano da sole) da Gnoma! Altrimenti mi sarei vergognata come un cane a mostrarvi con un simile ritardo questi smalti, parte dell'edizione limitata Pupa del Natale scorso.

Sull'onda dell'entusiasmo per la finitura metallica-microglitterata (e grazie ad un'offerta Acqua&Sapone) avevo comprato tutti e quattro gli smalti; speravo di riuscire a preparare un post che li comprendesse tutti, ma ieri la giornata è stata più incasinata del previsto e la sera tardi mi son trovata davanti al pc con troppe cose da sistemare (e un notevole mal di testa).

Due soli smalti stavolta, gli altri seguiranno, magari al prossimo discontinued day (o forse prima, la mia lunghissima lista dei possibili Discontinued è veramente agghiacciante)!

Pupa 810 Copper Déco

A beautiful metallic copper, perfect in two coats. In the shade the melange effect of the golden-bronze micro flakes is quite evident; under direct sunlight (and electric lighting) nails sparkle!

Un bellissimo rame metallizzato, perfetto in due passate. All'ombra si nota di più l'effetto mélange dei micro flakes bronzo-dorati (la base comunque è ben pigmentata), sotto il sole e alla luce artificiale è tutto un luccichio.

Pupa 811 Emerald Déco

They called it Emerald but actually it has a reddish base infused with light blue and golden micro flakes, that give it a green melange effect. Application was easy, three coats to make nails opaque enough (base is sheer). As you can see it changed color according to view point, but it's not a polish I would simply call a duochrome (I'll stick to the melange effect).

Si chiama Emerald ma in realtà è un colore strano: una base rossastra con microflakes (pensavo fossero micro glitter, ma visti da vicino hanno una forma irregolare) celesti e dorati che danno un effetto verde mélange.

Applicazione buona, tre passate perché con due al sole si notava ancora la semitrasparenza della base. Come vedete cambia colore a seconda di come si guardano le unghie, anche se non lo definirei un duochrome vero e proprio (mi piace il termine mèlange).

BTW I found out that this polish is really similar to another one I own (and not a common polish): Gosh 612 Galaxy. Luckily these two are not dupes: Gosh Galaxy micro flakes show a violet hue that Pupa ones miss. Yay!

Tra l'altro ho scoperto che questo smalto è molto simile a qualcosa che ho già, e mica uno smalto qualsiasi, ma il Gosh 612 Galaxy.

Però dopo attenta analisi posso affermare che non sono uguali, i microflakes del Pupa lo fanno virare al verde mentre il Gosh ha anche un riflesso viola. Dupe scampato!
