Swatch: Kiko Shades of Black 004 Blu Notte - Midnight Blue

I know that Summer is not the right season for an almost-black polish ^_^ but I really wanted to show you another Kiko Shades of Black polish (the next post will be more colorful, I promise)!

This one is 004 Midnight Blue: the result after the first coat depends on how loaded was the brush, but after a second one you get a very dark/almost black blue. As you can see the polish is super glossy also on its own.

Needless to say, I love also this one, it might be useful also as a base for nail art or sheer polishes (for instance some magnetic ones).

So che non è proprio stagione da scurissimi...Ma volevo andare avanti la serie dei Kiko Shades of Black, quindi oggi ve ne propino propongo uno (il prossimo post sarà più colorato, prometto).

Questo è il numero 04 Blu Notte: il risultato dopo la prima mano dipende da quanto è carico il pennello, dopo due passate il colore diventa un blu scurissimo, praticamente nero. Come vedete nelle foto lo smalto è lucidissimo anche da solo.

Inutile dire che adoro anche questo super scuro, tra l'altro utilissimo da utilizzare come base per nail art o smalti non molto coprenti (tipo certi magnetici).

Swatch: El Corazón Active Bio Gel N. 423/1041 [Bird of Happiness]

Hi!

The polish I'm showing you today has been quite challenging (photographically speaking), but I'm really happy to finally post it, as it's a great Summer shade and also because it's the first El Corazón here on the blog (and IMO this is a brand that deserves a lot of attention).

In case you are not familiar with it, El Corazón (despite the name) is a Russian brand: they produce nail polishes, nail art accessories and also make up.

Sooner or later I'll manage to write a "haul post" about their e-store, but for now let's see this polish: it belongs to their Active Bio-Gel line (it's nail polish, not gel), Bird of Happiness collection, unfortunately it has no name, just a number (1041).

As I've said before it's a wonderful Summer color: azure-sea green with tiny silver/holo flakes and a fine light green shimmer.

It looks different according to lighting: direct sunlight makes the holo particles pop out, whereas indoors or under electric lighting the shimmer stands out, and the polish looks a little bit greener.

The brush is quite slender, but application was a breeze even on my wide nails: two coats for these swatches.

Last but not least, a bottle contains a generous amount of polish (16 ml) and costs 210 rubles (current Euro value 2.85).

I hope you like it, I fell in love with this shade/finish and grabbed also its purple "Bird of Happiness" companion (coming soon).

Lo smalto che vi mostrerò oggi è stato abbastanza impegnativo in termini di resa fotografica, ma sono felicissima di essere riuscita finalmente a postarlo, innanzitutto perché è un colore stupendo super estivo e poi perché è il primo smalto di El Corazón che appare sul blog, e questo marchio secondo me merita davvero attenzione.

Breve premessa: El Corazón, a dispetto del nome, è un marchio russo. Oltre agli smalti (tanti) producono anche accessori per nail art/stamping e un sacco di altri prodotti cosmetici. Prima o poi riuscirò a fare anche un post haul sulle mie esperienze shopping dal loro e-store...
Ma intanto lo smalto, che appartiene alla linea Active Bio Gel (collezione Bird of Happiness); purtroppo non ha un nome, solo il numero (1041).

Come dicevo prima, il colore è perfetto per l'estate: un azzurro-verde mare con piccoli flakes argento olografici e un sottile shimmer verde chiaro.

A seconda della luce l'effetto cambia: al sole risaltano le particelle olografiche e lo smalto sembra più azzurro, mentre in interni o con luce artificiale emerge lo shimmer, che lo fa virare più al verde.

Il pennello è sottile, ma l'applicazione risulta molto buona, anche per chi ha le unghie larghe come le mie: due passate per queste foto.

Ultimo dettaglio: la boccetta è decisamente capiente, ben 16 ml; il prezzo attuale è di 210 rubli = 2.85€ circa.

Spero vi piaccia, io mi sono innamorata di questo colore e mi sono procurata anche il fratellino viola della collezione (sarà tra i prossimi post).

Kiko Shades of Black Nail Lacquer [skittle]

Hi! First real/nail related post of 2018 (and also the first one after a long absence)...Anyway I feel like I'm kind of "resuming" something I suspended last September, as one of my latest posts was about a new LE from Kiko, the Holographic Nail Lacquer collection, and there was also another collection I was interested in, the one with the "almost black" polishes, but that time I did't manage to try them.

During January sales I bought the first two bottles (03-04), then at the end of February (thanks to a great "buy 2 get 4" promo on LEs) also the other four joined my stash.

Today I will be showing you a quick skittle, hoping I'll be able post also single swatches soon (the weather here is really awful, please Spring bring us some sunny days!).

Primo post vero/smaltoso del 2018 e dopo un lungo periodo di assenza...Mi piace pensare che oggi si riprenda in qualche modo il discorso interrotto a settembre: uno dei miei ultimi post infatti riguardava gli smalti di una edizione limitata Kiko appena uscita, quella degli olografici Holographic Nail Lacquer; c'era anche un'altra collezione di smalti che mi ispirava molto, quella degli scurissimi, ma al tempo non ero riuscita a provarli.

Ai saldi di gennaio (si vede che era destino) mi sono procurata i primi due (03-04) e poi, grazie a un'interessante promozione "2+2" proprio sulle LE, a fine febbraio sono entrati nella mia collezione anche i restanti quattro.

Oggi ve li mostrerò al volo in una skittle, poi (tempo permettendo, spero che la primavera porti un po' di sole) dedicherò un breve post a ognuno di loro. Partiamo intanto con le info ufficiali dal sito Kiko:

Two coats for this skittle: the brush is quite wide, but application is really easy (these polishes have a perfect formula).

No top coat needed, Shades of Black lacquers are already super glossy; I have to say (being a sucker for almost-black nail polishes) I really fell in love with them.

Qui li vedete con due passate ognuno, il pennello è abbastanza largo, ma l'applicazione è comunque facile: lo smalto ha una consistenza perfetta secondo me.

Niente top coat per queste foto, gli smalti sono super super lucidi già da soli; io che sono appassionata di smalti scuri me ne sono innamorata all'istante.

Il prezzo, già scontato del 50%, è di 2,45€ (boccetta da 10ml), segnalo che fino all'otto aprile on line e nei negozi dovrebbe esserci anche una promozione 2+1 sulle edizioni limitate.

Swatch: Zoya Dream

I've been super lazy lately (blog-wise), although I'm spending a lot of time on my nails, changing my nail polish quite often and always adding some -more or less successful- stamping to my manicure.

Hoping that my laptop won't row against me (I've got some slow-connection issues lately), I'll try to get back on track with a beautiful polish: Zoya Dream.

Dream belongs to Zenith collection (Winter/Holiday 2013) and it's a gorgeous deep blue (according to Zoya website it's a "deep space blue") with holo flakes.

It's slightly jelly, so I applied three coats for these swatches; anyway you can see that it was nice also after the second one (comparison picture), nail line was just a little bit more visible.

I'm really happy I bought it, and I hope you like it too!

Accidenti, ultimamente ho proprio battuto la blog-fiacca!!!

Mi sono comunque occupata di unghie e affini: ho praticamente cambiato smalto ogni tre giorni, aggiungendo sempre qualche esperimento di stamping (non sempre riuscito :-P).

Provo a riprendere il ritmo (sperando che il mio computer sia rinsavito, ultimamente sta facendo i capricci e si è messo in modalità lumaca), mostrandovi uno smalto bellissimo: Zoya Dream.

Appartiene alla collezione Zenith del 2013 ed è un bellissimo blu intenso con una leggera tendenza al jelly, pieno di particelle/flakes olografici.

Gli swatch che vedete qui sono stati fatti dopo tre passate, ma nella foto comparativa vedete anche il risultato dopo le prime due (comunque uniforme, solo con la linea dell'unghia un po' più visibile).

Bellissimo, vero?

Swatch: Kiko 517 Blu Acciaio Metallico - Metallic Steel Blue

Kiko is discontinuing their standard "nail lacquer" polishes, I'm so sad about it, I loved these polishes and bought so many of them (my reviews index proves it!).

Today I'm showing you n. 517 (kindly lent me by my friend Irene), a nice navy blue-grey with a metallic finish. This polish is highly pigmented, perfect in two coats and also quite glossy; being a metallic there's the "visible brush strokes" issue, but it might be solved with a "double top coat" trick  ;-) (check at the bottom of the post).

Da Kiko stanno dismettendo gli smalti della collezione storica "nail lacquer", ormai non sono più neanche negli espositori a parete, ma in mezzo ai prodotti in saldo. Mi dispiace tantissimo, adoravo questa linea e in questi anni ne ho comprati veramente tantissimi (il mio indice recensioni lo testimonia)!

Oggi vi mostro il n. 517 (prestato gentilmente dalla mia amica Irene...tanto tempo fa), un bel azzurro grigio. Lo smalto è ben pigmentato, perfetto in due passate e resta anche abbastanza lucido; essendo uno smalto metallizzato (Kiko li chiama "metallico") ha il problemino dei segni delle pennellate  che restano visibili (leggete più sotto per una possibile soluzione).

I used this nail polish for my mat/satin Essence tc comparison (post here), after taking those pictures I did another layering, adding to my nails (except ring finger) a coat of glossy top coat. This "double top coating" is quite interesting on metallic nail polishes: as you can see the surface becomes more shimmery and the brush strokes almost disappear. 

Avevo usato questo smalto anche per la comparazione dei top coat satinati Essence (post qui), qui sotto -su tutte le dita tranne l'anulare- vi mostro il risultato di un' ulteriore sovrapposizione, simpatica da fare sugli smalti metallizzati: dopo il top coat satinato si applica una passata di top coat lucido normale e lo smalto diventa più simile ad uno shimmer, senza praticamente segni delle pennellate.

Swatch: Essence Colour&Go 195 You wow'd me again

Last Tuesday (national holiday here in Italy) I finally had some blog time, and sorting through my pictures I found this gem from (unfortunately) discontinued Essence Colour&Go line.

I don't know why I didn't post it at that time, maybe because I took a ton of pictures (well, it's a multichrome ^_^) and I knew that sorting/editing them would have taken me forever! Anyway thanks to a rainy afternoon...Here is Essence n. 195 You wow'd me again.

I bought it as soon as I saw it in the Essence display (it was a "new" product in September 2014), even if I already had all Colour&Go duochromes in my stash...And I'm glad I did it: it's a beautiful multichrome, that switches from violet to lavender-blue-grey and light green.

Opaque in two coats, unfortunately brush strokes remain visibile (right now I would try to minimize them with the mat + glossy top coat trick); nevertheless it's a wonderful polish, quite unique IMO (it reminds me a little bit of Nubar Indigo Illusion), watching these pics I fell in love with it again.

Martedì finalmente ho avuto un po' di tempo libero e, scartabellando tra le vecchie foto, ho trovato questo gioiellino Essence (della vecchia linea Colour&Go). Non so perché ai tempi non lo avessi postato, probabilmente perché -trattandosi di un multichrome- avevo scattato un miliardo di foto e mi intimoriva il lavoro di scelta/editing.

Grazie ad una giornata festiva e piovosa...Eccolo qua, è il n. 195 You wow'd me again.

Ai tempi (due anni e mezzo fa!) non avevo potuto fare a meno di comprarlo, appena trovato nell'espositore, anche se avevo già praticamente tutti i duochrome delle varie collezioni Colour&Go.

Non me ne sono pentita: è uno smalto con un bellissimo cambio di colore: passa da viola a verde chiaro (che poi diventa un verde intenso) attraverso l'azzurro, con le sfumature intermedie di lavanda e pervinca grigiastro.

Coprente in due passate, purtroppo si vedono i segni del pennello (se lo mettessi ora proverei a minimizzarli con il doppio passaggio tc mat-tc lucido).

Comunque molto, molto bello...E credo abbastanza unico nel suo genere (mi ricorda un po' il più famoso Nubar Indigo Illusion), riguardando le foto me ne sono innamorata di nuovo.

Swatch: A-England Captive Goddess + comparazione

Today I'm showing you an indie polish: Captive Goddess from A-England.

It belongs to Rossetti's Goddess collection: I would have bought all four of them just for the "Preraffaeliti" theme <3, but eventually I got just this one (Proserpine was out of stock when I placed my order ç_ç).

Captive Goddess has a very indefinite color: it's a sort of light blue-greenish-grey, with a subtle purple hue (visible just at a certain angle) and a soft holo effect.

The A-England formula is great as usual (coverage and evenness), two coats for these swatches.

Oggi è il turno di un indie: Captive Goddess di A-England, dalla collezione Rossetti's Goddess. Premetto che li avrei presi tutti e quattro solo per il tema (Preraffaeliti <3), alla fine la scelta è caduta su questo (avrei voluto anche Proserpine, ma era out of stock quando ho fatto l'ordine).

Captive Goddess è uno smalto con un colore difficilissimo da descrivere: è una specie di azzurro-verde-grigio con un effetto holo diffuso e un leggero riflesso viola (visibile a certe angolazioni "estreme" o sulle punte).

Formula eccezionale da A-England, lo smalto è coprente (e liscio) in due passate.

The following day I decided to compare it with another indie polish: Emily de Molly On Edge. They have the same indefinite blue-ish/greyish color, but OE is darker and the holo effect is different and more visible.

Il giorno dopo averlo swatchato l'ho comparato con un altro indie, che avete già visto qui sul blog: On Edge di Emily de Molly...I colori sono dello stesso tipo "indefinibile", ma OE è più scuro e l'effetto holo è decisamente più "flash".
