Swatch: Models Own Pastel Pink

 

I haven't been posting a "On Wednesday we wear pink" for a long long time; actually I was thinking about removing the banner, I've been too negletful!

Anyway while editing these pictures I thought they would have been perfect for a Wednesday, so here is Models Own Pastel Pink!

This pink creme is a very old purchase of mine (August 2010), already swatched in the past (with unsatisfying pictures)  and then put aside.

Recently I tried it again (for a nail art that you might see soon ^_^) and here are my swatches, after two thick coats; as you can see application hasn't been flawless, despite all chemicals involved (at that time the polishes were not 3-free).

That's all for now, I have tons of pics to edit (skittles from new collections, holos, thermals...) and a sort of April laziness that makes me just, well...laze :-P I hope to find some inspiration and willpower soon!!

C'era una volta il "on Wednesday we wear pink", appuntamento a cui non partecipo più da un bel po', tanto che stavo pensando di togliere il bannerino dal blog.

Comunque visto che recentemente ho avuto per le mani (e presto dovreste vederlo come base in una nail art ^_^) uno dei miei pochi rosa untried, approfitto del mercoledì per postarlo.

Si tratta del Models Own Pastel Pink, un acquisto vecchissimo (haul dell'Agosto 2010), swatchato già in passato, con foto che non mi soddisfacevano del tutto.

Quindi l'ho riprovato ed eccolo qua dopo due passate corpose. Come vedete è un laccato rosa (pastello ma abbastanza intenso come colore); la stesura non è stata proprio impeccabile, nonostante la composizione chimica (ai tempi gli smalti Models Own non erano ancora 3-free, come sono adesso).

Ed è tutto per il momento, a dire il vero sarei piena di foto da sistemare (skittle di collezioni nuove, holo, termici, duochrome...), ma Aprile "dolce dormire" mi ha fatto entrare in modalità cazzeggio avanzato ON (e loop) :-P spero di trovare un po' di ispirazione e/o buona volontà a breve!!

NOTD: Models Own Red'n' Black

Today I'll show you a very old swatch, a Models Own polish I bought in 2010 and swatched in Summer 2011 *blushes with shame*.

Faithful to its name after first coat it's mainly a burgundy (as on bottle neck) and gets dark burgundy/brown with second one. Then I thought it was enough, but after checking nails under sunlight I noticed they looked a little bit streaky, especially near cuticles, so I applied another coat = almost black!

A nice vampy polish, overall.

Tornando sui "vampy" oggi è il turno di un Models Own comprato nel 2010 (e swatchato la scorsa estate *arrossisce di vergogna*): Red'n'Black.
Il nome dice tutto del colore: dopo la prima passata un bordeaux, come quello che si vede sul collo della bottiglia, dopo due mani bordeaux/marrone molto scuro e apparentemente a posto. Invece guardando in controluce si vedevano tutte le unghie strisciate, soprattutto nella parte alta (v. foto): proprio brutto, quindi ho dovuto dare anche la terza passata, che lo ha reso così scuro da sembrare quasi nero.
Tutto sommato carino, un classico degli smalti scuri.

To spice it up I added a stamping, made with Pixie Dust (Essence Magnetics) and Born Pretty Plate M49.

Per rallegrarlo un po' poi ho aggiunto uno stamping, fatto con il dischetto M49 della Born Pretty e il Pixie Dust (Essence Magnetics).

NOTD: Models Own Top Turquoise

I bought this polish in August 2010 and let it sit in my untried box for a year before picking it up (I really have way too many polishes); it was a little bit separated in the bottle but with some “stirred not shaken” moves it settled (a polish is not a Martini, after all).
Once applied (2 coats) this turquoise creme turned out a little bit darker and greener than I expected (obviously catching the right shade in pictures has been wearing, so please forgive the weird pictures).

It dries quickly but not very shiny, so eventually I added a coat of my SH Insta-Dri, I find it more interesting in the "very glossy" version!

Shade - Luce indiretta

Uno smalto comprato lo scorso Agosto, lasciato nella scatola praticamente per un anno! Nella bottiglia il colore si era un po' “scomposto” ma con qualche girata (senza scuoterlo tanto, da qualche parte ho letto che "non si fa", non mi ricordo nemmeno perché) è tornato tutto a posto.

Una volta applicato (due mani) si è rivelato un turchese creme più scuro e verde di quanto prevedessi e ovviamente una “rogna” da fotografare. Asciuga velocemente ma non resta lucidissimo, per cui alla fine ho provato anche a stendere una mano di top coat, il Sally Hansen Insta-Dri che ho da una vita, e lo preferisco decisamente in versione “specchio”.

NOTD: Models Own Dusty Mauve

A quick post today (I'm trying to study instead of swatching/reading blogs during my free time) to show you one of my pre-breakage swatches: a strange (weird) grey-purple, unfortunately (IMO) with a frost finish and visible brush strokes; even if application is good and it's opaque in two coats, I didn't like it at all.

In velocità (sto cercando di fare la brava e studiare, nel tempo libero, invece di swatchare e leggere nailblogs) uno degli arretrati pre-rottura unghia: uno strano grigio-viola con finitura (purtroppo) frost/perlata e relativi segni di pennello. Due mani, stesura buona ma colore che non mi convince per niente.

I tried to enhance it with an old Pupa “layering” polish, the result is much better IMO (I love the pink and light blue sparkles it added)

Secondo me è migliorato molto con una mano di questo vecchio shimmer semitrasparente Pupa (con brillini rosa e azzurri)

NOTD: Models Own Moody Grey + Viva la Nails Decals

A little addition to Moody Grey: Viva la Nails water decals.

I liked them very much, they are easy to apply (you just have to wet the design, remove it from the paper and place on the nail - I used a pair of tweezers to seize it). They really "melt" with polish (you don't see edges as it happens with stickers) and have very detailed designs (different for each nail - really lovely, IMO). On top I added a coat of Essence Nail Art Sealing Top Coat, that added the "vitrified" finish and made the polish last longer, even on tips!

Removing them has been quite easy: they come off with polish (much better than stickers, that tend to remain glued on nails).

Again, I really love these decals (made a lot of pics:-)) and I'll surely buy some more once I finish these ones.

Una piccola aggiunta allo smalto Moody Grey: i decals di Viva la Nails.

Mi sono piaciuti tantissimo perché sono facili da applicare (basta bagnare poco la carta e si staccano, poi io mi sono aiutata con un paio di pinzette per posiizionarli come volevo), si fondono bene con lo smalto sottostante (senza segni come succede con gli stickers) e (questa cosa mi è piaciuta un sacco) per ogni unghia c'è un disegno diverso.

Sopra ho dato una passata di Top Coat Essence (il Nail Art Sealing TC) che ha dato un effetto "vetrificato" al tutto (ed ha migliorato molto la durata dello smalto).

Anche la rimozione non è stata "pallosa" come gli stickers (viene via lo smalto tranne lo sticker e lo smalto sotto), togliendo lo smalto viene via anche il decal. Dal mucchio di foto si capisce che mi sono piaciuti veramente tanto, finiti questi sicuramente ne prenderò ancora.

NOTD: Models Own Moody Grey

During these weeks of "blog blackout" I kept on painting my nails (I find it so relaxing) and taking pictures: here is a Models Own polish I really liked, Moody Grey.

It's a grey creme, with an interesting blu/green shade. It was fluid but well pigmented and easy to apply. On middle and ring finger just one coat, two on other fingers. Very shiny (I didn't apply top coat), really nice and peculiar.

In questo periodo (oltre a riempire la scatola) ho accumulato anche un po' di arretrato "fotografico": questo Models Own mi era piaciuto molto, un creme grigio scuro molto particolare, con tonalità blu/verde. Consistenza fluida ma pigmentata, facile da stendere, potrebbe bastare una mano (medio e anulare), per vedere la differenza ne ho stese due su indice e mignolo. Lucidissimo senza top coat. Bello!

A quite nice raspberry/red-violet polish, a pretty color for this season: I thought it was a creme but actually it has a semi-jelly finish (it's not a jelly but also hasn't the perfectly "opaque" finish of a creme, you could notice enlarging first picture).

Un color viola "porpora", carino per l'autunno: pensavo fosse un creme,  invece ha una consistenza più "jell-osa" (non è proprio un jelly ma non è neanche perfettamente coprente come un creme, ingrandendo la prima foto si nota la colorazione non perfettamente omogenea). Nelle foto due mani, niente top coat.

My first Models Own: Jade Stone, a bright jade green creme! This polish is well pigmented and quite easy to apply: two coats and it's perfectly opaque and super shiny (no top coat in my pics)! So pretty, I'm very satisfied with it (and ashamed for my forefinger nail, partially peeled: I didn't have the heart to file it - not on my swatching hand!!!!) 

Note: Models Own polishes are not 3-free (ingredients), open bottle has a strong smell (similar to Seche Vite one).

Shade - Ombra esterno

Il mio primo Models Own, un creme verde giada "brillante"! Lo smalto è abbastanza pigmentato e facile da stendere, due mani sono sufficienti per un risultato uniforme e super lucido (nelle foto, senza top coat)! E' bellissimo, sono proprio soddisfatta dell'acquisto *vergogna per l'unghia dell'indice che ha lo "scalino" - si è sfaldata e non ho il coraggio di limarla*!
Nota: aprendo la boccetta ho notato che l'odore sul momento è abbastanza forte, tipo quello del Seche, e mi sono ricordata che gli smalti Models Own non sono 3-free (inci).

This is the second (and last) part of my Summer Haul (I bought too many polishes, I know: I am quite ashamed of that, considering that my untrieds box is filled to the brim).

I never tried polishes from this brand, I'm really curious to test them, considering they're pretty cheap (€ 1,70 for 10 ml).

Sono i miei primi E.l.f., sono proprio curiosa di vedere come sono, dato il prezzo "interessante" (1,70 € e nemmeno bottiglie mini: 10ml)
