Swatch: A-England Captive Goddess + comparazione

Today I'm showing you an indie polish: Captive Goddess from A-England.

It belongs to Rossetti's Goddess collection: I would have bought all four of them just for the "Preraffaeliti" theme <3, but eventually I got just this one (Proserpine was out of stock when I placed my order ç_ç).

Captive Goddess has a very indefinite color: it's a sort of light blue-greenish-grey, with a subtle purple hue (visible just at a certain angle) and a soft holo effect.

The A-England formula is great as usual (coverage and evenness), two coats for these swatches.

Oggi è il turno di un indie: Captive Goddess di A-England, dalla collezione Rossetti's Goddess. Premetto che li avrei presi tutti e quattro solo per il tema (Preraffaeliti <3), alla fine la scelta è caduta su questo (avrei voluto anche Proserpine, ma era out of stock quando ho fatto l'ordine).

Captive Goddess è uno smalto con un colore difficilissimo da descrivere: è una specie di azzurro-verde-grigio con un effetto holo diffuso e un leggero riflesso viola (visibile a certe angolazioni "estreme" o sulle punte).

Formula eccezionale da A-England, lo smalto è coprente (e liscio) in due passate.

The following day I decided to compare it with another indie polish: Emily de Molly On Edge. They have the same indefinite blue-ish/greyish color, but OE is darker and the holo effect is different and more visible.

Il giorno dopo averlo swatchato l'ho comparato con un altro indie, che avete già visto qui sul blog: On Edge di Emily de Molly...I colori sono dello stesso tipo "indefinibile", ma OE è più scuro e l'effetto holo è decisamente più "flash".

Swatch: Speciallità Hits no Olimpo Artemis [#polish_abc]

Post related to #polish_abc tag that I just joined on IG (thanks to Stregalice), I hope that this Monday date will be a good excuse to pick polishes to swatch among my poor dusties :-)

Today's polish is a holo from Brazilian brand Speciallità and belongs to their Hits no Olimpo collection (first batch). I'm pointing out "first batch" because in 2013 Speciallità changed formula and shade of these polishes (check this useful comparison of old and new versions from Esmaltes da Kelly).

Anyway this is Artemis, a light grey holo, three coats for these swatches; the polish was easy to apply, but the first formula contained toluene, so the smell wasn't that good (luckily now these polishes are 3free). Its holo effect is linear, but not very strong (let's say that weak November sunlight didn't help).

Post collegato al tag #polish_abc iniziato su Instagram da Stregalice :-* Sono fiduciosa nel fatto che dover trovare uno smalto da postare su IG (e poi qui) ogni lunedì mi darà la forza di "ravanare" negli scatoloni di untrieds. Oggi prendo la scorciatoia dello swatch già fatto, ma che languiva nelle bozze...^_^

Lo smalto di oggi è uno dei primi Hits no Olimpo del marchio brasiliano Speciallità (lo specifico perché la seconda versione di questi smalti è un po' diversa - tendenzialmente migliorata, qui una comparazione di Esmaltes da Kelly).

E' Artemis, un grigio chiaro holo; qui lo vedete dopo tre passate, la stesura è buona (ma l'odore non è il massimo, sarà colpa del toluene, adesso per fortuna gli smalti sono 3free).

Ha un effetto olografico linear "medio", non male considerata la luce scarsa di quando ho fatto gli swatch (sole spentissimo di fine novembre), ma di certo non comparabile con certi altri "spaccaretina".

Swatch: Emily de Molly On Edge

Today I'm showing you a "first time", in fact this is my first Emily de Molly: On Edge.

Oggi sul blog una "prima volta", infatti vi mostrerò il mio primo Emily de Molly: On Edge.

I bought this Australian polish (and a couple more indie bottles) at Norway Nails during the last sale (soon I will write a post about my mini haul). I've had Emily de Molly polishes in my wishlist for a while, their flashy holo effect was irresistible!!

On Edge has a very strange shade, not easy to describe: a sort of blue-ish green-ish dark polish, with a stunning holographic effect; moreover at certain angles it shows a burgundy hue (so difficult to catch)!
In direct sunlight you mostly see the amazing linear holo, but indoors and with electric lighting one can detect its duochrome side. I tried very hard to catch it with my camera, eventually I took a couple crappy pics with my cellphone and my nails in the mirror :-D.
I forgot to add: two coats (the polish is quite fluid) and no top coat in my pictures.

That's all, obviously I'm very very happy about this purchase <3 (and I suck at writing the ending of my posts :-P).

Ho preso On Edge e un altro holo di questo marchio australiano da Norway Nails in occasione dei saldi (a breve un post sull'acquisto), incantata dall'effetto olografico "sparaflah" (li avevo in wish list da un pezzo) e gia in boccetta mi sono sembrati spettacolari.

On Edge ha un colore molto strano e difficile da definire, un verde bluastro con riflessi borgogna. Diciamo quasi un duochrome, ma difficile da "documentare"; comunque al sole l'unica cosa che si nota è l'holo pazzesco.

In interni io l'ho visto verde, con le punte più scure. Non vi dico le acrobazie per cercare di fotografarlo, questo passaggio al colore più caldo (metto anche un paio di foto assurde fatte con il cellulare e allo specchio :-D).
Dimenticavo: due passate (lo smalto è moderatamente liquido) e niente top coat per gli swatch!

E' tutto (sono un disastro, non so mai come chiudere i post :-P), spero lo smalto vi piaccia, io ovviamente l'ho adorato!!

Swatch: Liquid Sky Lacquer Storm Break

I decided to round off this year with one of my beloved indies from Liquid Sky Lacquer! For New Year's Eve no reds or golds for me, but a sparkling dark grey linear holo: Storm Break.

As you can see the holographic hue is very visible and gives the polish a warmer tone. Two easy coats and no top coat in my pics.

Chiudiamo l'anno in bellezza, con uno dei miei amati indie Liquid Sky Lacquer.

Niente di rosso o dorato, per l'ultimo post dell'anno ho deciso di mostrarvi gli scintillii di un olografico linear grigio canna di fucile: Storm Break.

La "fiammata" holo è evidentissima sotto il sole ed ha un bel riflesso caldo; nelle foto due passate facili e coprenti.

E' tutto, buona fine d'anno e buoni festeggiamenti (a chi ne fa)!!!

Twinsie post: Gradient with butterfly wings

The word is a vampire...

Me and Ere (from Ere K.'s Beauty Shelf) found out that we had in common much more than our polish addiction...And decided to prepare a "Smashing Pumpkins Twinsie"!!

Actually my "gradient with butterfly wings" didn't come out that well, the first time I made a mess with polishes, a couple days later I tried again and just when I completed my gradient (tidier this time), the sun decided to disappear (for almost a week) ç_ç

Anyway my inspiration was the same: the dusky atmosphere of the video, Billy Corgan's silver trousers and obviouly the butterfly (the first time I tried also an orange accent).

I'm not good at free hand nail art (on the contrary, Ere is great, go check her Sailor Moon manicures!) so I relied on the MoYou London Kitty plate #13 (I bought the plate the same day it was released, I was in love with the butterfly wing patterns)!

Se questa frase vi ha fatto venire in mente qualcosa, siete nel post(o) giusto!

Io ed Ere di Ere K.'s Beauty Shelf oggi vi presentiamo la nostra "Smashing Pumpkins Twinsie"! Perché non abbiamo in comune solo la passione per gli smalti!!

Purtroppo la mia "gradient with butterfly wings" non è riuscita benissimo, ci ho provato due volte e la prima ho fatto un pasticcio, la seconda (quella in alto)...niente sole dal momento in cui ho finito di tamponare la spugnetta per la gradient ç_ç, quindi scusate l'illuminazione pessima delle foto.

Comunque l'ispirazione è la stessa: le atmosfere grigie e cupe del video, i pantaloni argentati di Billy Corgan e la farfalla (la prima volta in forma di "accent colorata").

Siccome non sono brava come Ere (avete visto le sue manicure a tema Sailor Moon??), per il disegno mi sono affidata alla plate Kitty #13 della MoYou London (ho dovuto comprarla appena uscita, era una vita che volevo qualcosa con le ali di farfalla)!
Adoro la plate (anche se i disegni sono veramente grandi e si perde un po' la bellezza del motivo), sicuramente la userò di nuovo a breve!

Swatch: OPI Peace&Love&OPI

Today I'm showing you another OPI polish from San Francisco collection, strange but true it's a multichrome, again :D

This is Peace&Love&OPI, that arrived here thanks to Enails.eu (BTW they lowered EU shipping fees at 3,99€ per order until the end of this year); it's a classic green-grey-purple, opaque in two coats and with the usual "brush strokes" issue that sometimes afflicts these multichromes.

Buongiorno (ormai...o buonanotte alle "night owl" come me)!

Oggi vi mostrerò un altro smalto OPI della San Francisco, stranamente si tratta ancora di un multichrome :D.

Questo è l'OPI Peace&Love&OPI, arrivato qui grazie a Enails.eu (dettagli sul negozio in questo post, tra l'altro fino al 31/12 le spese di spedizioni sono ridotte a 3,99€).

E' il classicissimo verde scuro-grigio-viola-porpora, con una bella coprenza (due passate per queste foto) e il solito problema dei segni delle pennellate (l'avevo intuito già guardandolo in boccetta, ha quella "perlescenza" da frost...).

As usual I tried it also with a satin top coat, that covers the strokes but "dulls" a little bit the polish; actually I loved it that way.

Come sempre in questi casi vado di top coat satinato, che cancella i segni, anche se spegne un po' il tutto (ma a me piace così "morbido").

Just out of curiosity...How many of these multichromes do you have in your stash? Checking my wheels so far I found just a polish that looked dangerously similar to this one, but I still have a lot of untrieds (including Essence and Catrice). I'm afraid of comparing them!

Allora, ne avete tanti di simili in casa? Io su ruota ne ho trovato solo uno pericolosamente somigliante, ma avrei ancora parecchi untried da smaltire...inclusi degli Essence e Catrice. E ho paura di compararli :D
