Orly Secret Society swatches: second part - seconda parte

Here is the second part of my Orly Secret Society swatches: the not-glitters! In fact here we have a crelly (a jelly-crème), a metallic flakey and an "almost chrome" (the finishes were not so easy to identify). BTW in case you're interested, here is the first post, about the glittery ones.

Finalmente ecco gli altri tre smalti della Orly Secret Society: i non-glitter. Infatti qui abbiamo un crelly (un misto tra crème/laccato e jelly...le smaltare trovano sempre termini azzeccati :D), un quasi cromato ed un metallico con micro flakes. Eccoli (se vi interessa, qui il post sui primi tre):

RISQUE ENCOUNTER

Risqué Encounter is a "Ferrari red" crelly, already pretty nice after the first coat, even if not 100% opaque (but not streaky either). After the second coat the nail line remains still slightly visible and the effect on nails is not very different in terms of color deepness.

Very easy to apply and amazingly glossy (I loved it on my nails)!

Un rosso chiaro (su internet avrei trovato un "rosso Ferrari" ma onestamente non saprei dirvi se il colore è proprio quello :)) crelly, che copre già dalla prima passata (foto senza boccetta), pur con l'effetto traslucido tipico dei jelly; vedete che l'intensità del colore non è molto differente dallo swatch "standard" con due passate.

Applicazione perfetta e smalto lucido da paura (mi è piaciuto un sacco, sulle mie unghie)!

WHAT'S THE PASSWORD

A light orange with golden flakes (two coats in my pics): super sparkly in sunlight, but IMO more charming indoors, where the tiny particles are more visible. You can see it layered on a dark polish in my previous Secret Society post.

Un arancio leggero con tantissimi flakes dorati (due passate nelle foto): super luccicante sotto il sole, molto più affascinante (secondo me) all'ombra, dove si vedono meglio le particelle.

Nel post precedente relativo a questa collezione lo potete vedere utilizzato come "topper" su uno smalto scuro.

VOYEURISTIC ADVENTURE

Well I have to say Voyeuristic Adventure was the one I was more interested into, as turning the bottle in my hands I saw a pink hue...And I was eager to see if it would appear on nails, too.

The shade is quite difficult to describe: on nails it looks more golden/silver/platinum according to lighting (you can see the slight pink reflection in sunlight).

Very pigmented, nails are opaque after first coat (my usual two coats for these swatches); unfortunately - but I was expecting that from a metallic leaning to chrome - the brush strokes remain visible. To minimize them you can try to apply a thin second coat, not touching the same area twice.

E finiamo con il colore che più mi intrigava in boccetta, perché girandola di qua e di là avevo visto un interessante riflesso rosa intenso...Il colore di per sè stesso è difficile da descrivere: un metallizzato quasi cromato, molto particolare perché sulle unghie a seconda della luce sembra più o meno argentato/dorato/platino (i riflessi rosa si intravedono alla luce del sole).

Ben pigmentato, l'unghia è già coperta dopo la prima passata (due nelle foto); l'unico suo problema (congenito, considerando la finitura) sono i segni delle pennellate.

Si vedono un pochino di meno se la seconda passata -sottile- viene applicata con attenzione, cercando di non ripassare più volte sullo stesso punto.

I was in a "experimenting mood", so I added a layer of a matte top coat (Essence), that hide the brush strokes, but dulled the polish a lot...

Allora (ero in vena di esperimenti) ho provato ad aggiungere una passata di top coat matte per eliminare le striature, ma lo smalto si è spento parecchio...

So I decided to see what would happen if I decided to re-gloss it...Here is the result on my ring nail (and a summary of the three finishes on my pinkie). I really like it (shiny with an even surface)!

Così ho deciso di vedere cosa sarebbe successo se avessi deciso di rilucidarlo...E ho applicato una passata di top coat lucido sull'anulare: ancora un risultato diverso (e i tre assieme sul mignolo). Niente male, tra l'altro (vedete il riflesso rosa che riappare?).

Last but not least...Voyeuristic Adventure works nicely for stamping...Here is an example (forgive the short stamping, I was still waiting for my XL plates then).

Orly Secret Society swatches: first part - prima parte (glitters)

Something brand new on the blog today: three polishes from Orly Secret Society collection (press release).
I tried to group the six of them in some way and the first criterion that came into my mind was "glittery" and "not glittery", even if swatching them I found out that these three polishes have actually quite different finishes.

Let's start with...

Oggi (tanto per tornare all'attualità dopo i due discontinued dell'ultimo post) vi mostrerò i primi tre Orly Secret Society (cartella stampa e info). Ho deciso di iniziare con i "glitterosi", anche se provandoli ho scoperto che in realtà questi smalti hanno finish molto diversi tra loro.

Iniziamo con...

MACABRE MASQUERADE

Blurred, but watch those multicolored glitters!
Sfocata, ma si vedono bene i glitter colorati!

At first I thought it was made of a blue jelly base full of multicolored glitters, but watching it at a closer distance I noticed also the very fine electric blue glitters. Macabre Masquerade is quite viscous, I suggest to be careful if you're used to apply thick coats (luckily the polish tends to self-level on nails).

In these pictures the result after two coats: as you can see it's still slightly translucent, but there are no patches and the multicolored glitters make it so festive!

So nice on its own, but better (in my opinion) on a dark base: I applied it on a black creme (Orly Liquid Vinyl) and *__* the glitters pop out and the nails have a sort of deep-blue glare. I must try it also on other dark shades, as purple or green.

Aggiungi didascalia

Alla prima stesura ho pensato fosse composto da una base jelly blu piena di glitter multicolori, ma osservandolo da vicino ho notato la moltitudine di glitter blu elettrico finissimi. Macabre Masquerade ha una consistenza abbastanza viscosa, consiglio di non stenderne proprio una manata (come è successo a me, per fortuna lo smalto comunque si autolivella).

Io l'ho provato da solo, nelle foto il risultato dopo due passate: come vedete mantiene una certa trasparenza, ma il colore è uniforme e la marea di glitterini colorati lo rende molto festivo (come un albero di Natale, solo blu).

Molto carino, anche se secondo me dà il suo meglio su una base scura: l'ho applicato sopra un nero laccato (il fidato Orly Liquid Vinyl) e *__* i brillantini spiccano moltissimo ed il blu, più profondo, sembra quasi un riflesso. Assolutamente da provare anche con basi di altri colori (viola, verde...).

LAVISH BASH

Clear base filled with fine golden glitters, hexagonal holo glitters and small bar holo glitters (really "flashy", both under sunlight and electric lighting).

I tried it on its own (one to four coats) and even if it's a "rich" polish (really lavish :)) I think that it's better to use it on a colored base.

After the Italian version a picture of my layering, over beloved Liquid Vinyl: stunning!

L'ho provato in gradazione da una a quattro mani, la base è trasparente, piena di glitter dorati finissimi, glitter esagonali holo e piccolissimi bar glitter holo (l'effetto olografico della particelle è molto evidente, sia sotto il sole sia con la luce artificiale).

Anche se è "ricco", penso sia uno smalto da riservare al "layering puro": infatti l'ho provato sopra il nero (sempre Orly Liquid Vinyl) ed è veramente bellissimo.

MASKED CEREMONY

The last glittery one: Masked Ceremony! It's a gunmetal grey surprisingly pigmented, filled with small silver glitters, purple and silver medium glitters, few big square silver glitters. Two coats in my pictures, as you can see the glitters don't pop out much, but the purple-fuchsia hue is rather visible.

I really liked how it looked on me, but you know I'm a sucker for these dark shades...

Finiamo questa prima puntata con lo scurissimo e pigmentatissimo (quasi a sorpresa) Masked Ceremony: è un grigio scuro con tantissimi glitterini argento, glitter viola-fucsia e argento, più qualche glitter quadrato grande, sempre argento. 

Due passate nelle mie foto; come si vede i glitter sono seminascosti dallo smalto, per cui non si notano tantissimo, anche se si vede il riflesso di quelli viola.
Mi piaceva parecchio, sulle mie mani, ma sapete che ho un debole per questi smalti scurissimi :)

After applying Masked Ceremony I decided to use it as a base for the "layerable" polishes from this collection: here is what I got applying over it a coat of:

• middle - Macabre Masquerade
• ring - What's the password (coming soon)
• pinkie - just Masked Ceremony

Foto di famiglia (quasi al completo): dopo aver applicato Masked Ceremony ho deciso di usarlo, visto che è molto scuro, come base per gli altri smalti "layerizzabili" della collezione; questo è risultato con una passata ulteriore di:

• anulare - What's the password (questo lo vedrete la prossima volta)
• mignolo - solo Masked Ceremony
