NOTD: Gradation manicure with Kiko 255-237-277

AllLacqueredUp posted recently a wonderful gradation mani that made me crazy, I had to do something similar, or at least try...
As I was wearing Kiko 255 I used it as a base and layered Kiko 237 (orangey red) and Kiko 277 (a raspberry glitter):
Here are the results, beautiful IRL and difficult to picture; I am not really satisfied because they both missed a "good" gradation effect, but this kind of mani is really charming, more experiments will follow.
Left hand Kiko 237 - gradation came out too "weak" maybe because Kiko 255 was too dark/glittery. It's a nice effect, anyway.
Right hand (my middle finger nail had to be filed!) Kiko 277 - the polish is too pigmented (that is ok for standard application) so after second layer all nail just became "raspberry", without gradation effect.

  1. What a beautiful gradient. Do you use a sponge to get the gradient to happen? Just curious cuz I was planning on doing some sponge work soon and wanted to gradient it.

  3. @Lacquer Ware: no, I just started painting with "gradient" color a little bit below nail line (as for a ruffian), the second layer begun almost at the middle of the nail and so on (I did 4 gradient layers)...I think that all that glitter made it look less "defined" :-)
    @Twister: thank you!!
    @xnosugaraddedx: it's a charming mani, I want to try some more too!

  6. this looks beautiful! Ever since I saw it on AllLacqueredUp I wanted to try it too, but didn't find the right colours yet. Now that I see how beautiful it turned out for you, I will reconsider (:

  7. @headtofoot: thank you!! Maybe it would have been better with sheerer polishes, these are so glittery that the effect is really different from ALU one (but I love it all the same)!
