ABC Challenge: the recap - riassumendo...

Yesterday's post was the last ABC Challenge one, anyway I felt like adding a final touch ;-) so here is the list of the ABC posts you saw on my blog during the last three months.

My target was to post 26 polishes whose name begun with the selected letter, without featuring the same brand more than once.

Leaving aside the stretched "X" :-P, I'm quite happy I made it!

ABC Challenge: Z - Zoya Zara

The last ABC challenge post!!! I admit I've been struggling with the bi-weekly posts lately, especially considering that the weather sucked and take sunny pictures was almost impossible. Nevertheless the Challenge has been quite funny, especially because of all the bloggers that decided to join us, already from the beginning or later...I loved to see all the thumbnails at the bottom of my posts! So don't be sad...We "might" be back sooner than you expect!

This time my letter was not a "last minute" pick, but a polish I've been lemming for a while and arrived here thanks to a blogsale.

It's Zoya Zara (double Z, yay), launched in Winter 2008 (quite old, huh?) with Flourish Collection, a light lilac with  golden-iridescent (I could glimpse some light green and pink) shimmer/microflakes.

The polish seems not very opaque at the first coat, but on my index finger I stopped after the second one and I applied three on the other fingers.

The hue is really strong, even if not enough for the polish to be a real duochrome. Gorgeous, anyway!

Ultimo post della challenge...Io onestamente stavo arrancando, due post a settimana pare poco, ma non lo è (soprattutto se il tempo fa schifo)...Comunque non siate tristi, non è detto che tra qualche tempo non rivediate le thumbnails sotto i nostri post (qualcosa bolle in pentola) :-D!

A noi smaltare evidentemente piace complicarci la vita!
E poi nonostante lo sclero da foto-in-scadenza ci siamo divertite un sacco, anche grazie a tutte le ragazze che si sono unite a noi, per uno o tanti post, lungo la strada o praticamente da subito!

Ma veniamo alla Z, doppia in questo caso, perché si parla di Zoya Zara.

Stavolta non si tratta di uno smalto di ripiego, ma di un colore che è stato per lungo tempo nella mia wishlist ed è arrivato qui qualche mese fa grazie ad un blogsale.
Gira, gira ho scoperto che appartiene alla collezione invernale del 2008 (!), la Flourish. 

La base è un lilla leggero, molto primaverile, però piena di shimmer/microflakes dorato-iridescenti (secondo me si vede anche del verde chiaro e rosa) che lo rendono più "festivo". Non è coprentissimo, sull'indice mi sono fermata a due mani e sulle altre dita sono arrivata a tre. Il riflesso è veramente molto forte, pur senza arrivare al duochrome. Ovviamente mi piace un sacco!

Ed eccoci al capolinea di questa Challenge, che ci ha portato dai primi di Ottobre a fine anno, ammirate qui sotto le scelte finali della altre challengebloggers, da quello che ho visto finora c'è veramente da rifarsi gli occhi!

ABC Challenge: Y - Essence You're the one

A super short post today: I'm in the middle of a house cleaning + desperate cooking moment here (we use to celebrate Christmas Eve in my family - tomorrow I'll be "chez" the inlaws).

My Y is not very festive (the alternative was "yellow" anyway); I'm sure I bought this old Essence (according to the low number) at a 0,99€ clearance, as this orangey/coral pink crème shade is quite ordinary to me.

Anyway trying it on I appreciated its flawless application and perfect formula: opaque in two coats and very shiny! Not to mention the beloved flat-not-thick old brush.

That's all, I wish you all a Merry and Happy Christmas (even if you are Grinch-y like me :-P)!

Penultima tappa della abc oggi, con uno smalto a cui tecnicamente non serviva il sole, essendo un laccato, e invece è stato così fortunato da averlo: You're the one.

Uno dei primi C&Go Essence, a giudicare dal numero basso; sicuramente comprato durante una svendita, considerando che il colore è un rosa aranciato/corallo che dalla boccetta mi dice poco. Stendendolo comunque ne ho apprezzato la formula perfettamente coprente in due mani e lucida (per non parlare del pennello vecchio tipo, secondo me perfetto).

Decisamente poco natalizio, ma l'alternativa che avevo era un yellow ;-)

Buona visione delle altre Y e buon Natale (io oggi sarò super impegnata con i preparativi:

 tradizionalmente in famiglia festeggiamo la vigilia, domani turno suoceri)!!!

ABC Challenge - X: Catrice Moonlight Express (Xpress per gli amici)

And here is my X post...This was a really a challenging letter so I hope you will forgive my poetic licence, that transformed Catrice Moonlight "Express" in "Xpress".

Unless I decided to do some nail art (and I seldom do that :-P) art I felt I had no other options for this letter. 

I really liked this polish so I'm sorry I had to swatch it in a hurry (and without decent sunlight); Moonlight Express is an old purchase of mine, as it has been released in Summer 2011 (Out of Space limited edition), when Catrice brushes were perfect: wide but not bushy.

Besides the smear on my index (you can see it in my "1st coat" picture, I really was in a hurry) I had no clean up to do (just a little bit on my pinkie).

I don't know how to describe this shade: it's a dark blue with a pinch of green (picture mixing teal with black), filled with lighter microflakes and opaque enough to be perfect in two coats (perhaps for smaller/shorted nails it could even be a one coater).

That's it (I'm super tired today and I can't wait to go to bed)!! Take a look at the other girls' posts here below, I bet they came up with pretty surprising ideas for this difficult letter!

Ed eccoci con una delle puntate più impegnative della Challenge, quella con la lettera X!!!

Considerando la difficoltà (essendomi fissata sul fatto dei nomi degli smalti) spero mi perdonerete la licenza poetica che mi ha portato da Express a Xpress :-D 

A differenza della scorsa volta lo smalto che ho scelto per questa puntata è perfettamente nelle mie corde, mi dispiace averlo dovuto fotografare di corsa e senza luce decente.

Appartiene ad una vecchia limited edition Catrice (Out of Space - estate 2011), quando ancora il pennello era largo ma non spesso, ed applicarlo è stato un sogno (clean up praticamente zero, solo sul mignolo e dopo la prima mano - causa fretta - al lato dell'indice).

Il colore è tremendamente difficile da definire: un blu - con una punta di verde - scurissimo (pensate ad un mix di nero e ottanio) con dei microflakes più chiari.

Perfetto in due mani (ho anche la foto della prima passata, coprente ma non abbastanza, considerando la larghezza delle mie unghie). 

E' tutto (e auff vado a dormire, ultimamente faccio veramente fatica a mettermi davanti al pc, sarà la stanchezza da fine anno), non perdetevi i post delle altre ragazze qui sotto, sicuramente avranno tirato fuori dal cappello cose sorprendenti per questa lettera!

ABC Challenge: W - Mavala 169 Waikiki Orange

Hi everybody, it's Monday: ABC challenge time (and again I'm posting at the eleventh hour)!

I'm not really happy about the last letters here, I feel like I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel (after having showed almost all my fav brands before)...Moreover the weather is still rainy and gloomy so even if I had something more interesting for this W (and I did...a recent, prettier, purchase) I couldn't take swatches in time.

But back to this Waikiki Orange, my first and only Mavala polish. I usually skip their displays, as the polishes are quite expensive for being minis and shades are usually quite ordinary (nothing one can't find at Kiko or Essence IMHO).

I found this one at a clearance sale, 50% off, so I took the chance to try the brand.

Application seemed easy, as the polish is quite creamy, but after two coats I noticed the nail line was still visible. It's a typical Summer shade, a bright orange with a pinch of pink, more visible in the shade. Under the sunlight the polish looks a little bit warmer, due to an interesting touch: subtle golden shimmer (and I bought it thinking it was a crème...).

Anyway the polish is just "meh" to me...I hope that I'll be able to post something that suits me more in the next days!

Check the other girls' posts out, I bet they did much more better than me today!

Buon lunedì e buon ABC post, di nuovo last minute ;-) 

A dire il vero non sono proprio contentissima dello smalto che ho tirato fuori per oggi, diciamo che la ultime lettere saranno un po' "o così o pomì", tra l'altro con il tempo infame del weekend anche se avessi avuto un'alternativa (e ce l'avevo, grazie ad un acquisto recentissimo ?_?) non sarebbe stato possibile fare delle foto decenti.

Ma veniamo a questo Waikiki Orange, il mio primo e unico Mavala, preso durante una svendita al 50%. Di solito giro alla larga dal loro espositore: il costo secondo me elevato, considerando il formato mini, ed i colori tutto sommato normali non mi hanno mai ispirato granché.

Applicazione non male, alla prima passata pareva bello cremoso ma dopo la seconda mi sono accorta che non era coprente come sembrava e si notava nota ancora la linea dell'unghia.

Il colore è super estivo, un arancio intenso con una punta rosata (si nota soprattutto in interni). Sotto il sole sembra più caldo, secondo me grazie al sottilissimo shimmer dorato che si intravede (e io che l'avevo comprato come laccato). 

Commento finale: meh, spero di riuscire a postare presto qualcosa di più "nelle mie corde"!!

Nel frattempo guardatevi gli altri post W, sicuramente più invitanti!

ABC Challenge: V - Eyeko Vampira Polish [swatch]

Today's V-post is not a surprise, as I showed you Vampira Polish from Eyeko in my A-England Jane Eyre post.

The idea is simple: black base (not very thick), red microglitters. The base is quite sheer so after the first coat the result is quite unsatisfying. Luckily a second abundant coat made nails perfectly opaque.

Once dry the polish is not very glossy/smooth (because of the glitters); I didn't apply top coat for the swatches, but I'd recommend adding it for a prettier mani.

And now check the other Vs here below...BTW you will miss our ABC posts next year, don't you? :-P

La V di oggi era una lettera annunciata: Eyeko Vampira Polish! L'abbiamo vista al volo nella comparazione con l'A-England Jane Eyre e oggi ha un post tutto per sé.

Idea semplice: base nera leggera, microglitter rossi. Data la trasparenza della base la prima passata è stata abbastanza inquietante...Per fortuna con una seconda passata abbondante si sistema tutto.
Io non ho applicato top coat e una volta asciutto lo smalto aveva un aspetto poco levigato (a causa dei glitterini), quindi consiglierei di darne una passata per lisciare e lucidare il tutto!

E ora non perdete l'occasione di rimirare le altre V qui sotto, vi mancheranno i nostri ABC post il prossimo anno, vero? :-P

ABC Challenge: U - H&M Urban Spirit

ABC Challenge today...And we reached U! Not an easy letter to match with a polish (at least here in Italy), so probably there will be another post just about this polish today.

Urban Spirit is an H&M polish, one among the many you can find in their shops, where there are so many different bottles (shape/size) and no testers, something I find it a little bit confusing, especially when there are very similar colors in different packages.

This one is contained in a big (15 ml) bottle with a wooden-like cap; it's a grey-lavander with iridescent shimmer (pink, silver, light blue).

It's quite sheer so you can either use it on its own and accept visible nail line (as pictured, two coats for my swatch) or use it just as a layering topper.

That's it! Have a nice Monday (if you can, it has been really difficult for me to wake up this morning =_=)!

ABC Challenge oggi, con una lettera non particolarmente agevole oggi, la U (infatti ci dovrebbe essere un altro post su questo smalto).

Urban Spirit è uno degli innumerevoli smalti H&M, che nei negozi ha boccette (e set) di ogni foggia e misura, cosa che mi crea abbastanza casino, anche perché certi colori si somigliano in maniera preoccupante e ovviamente non ci sono tester per provarli.

Questo, contenuto in una boccetta grande (15ml) con un tappo effetto legno, è un grigio lavanda azzurrino con shimmer iridescenti (rosa, argento, azzurro).
Non particolarmente coprente, quindi o ci si rassegna ad un po' di trasparenza (due mani nelle mie foto) o si usa come come "top coat"  su basi colorate.

E' tutto per oggi, buona giornata a tutte (anche se è lunedì, io stamattina ho fatto una fatica ad alzarmi =_=)!
