Swatch: Essence Colour&Go 195 You wow'd me again

Last Tuesday (national holiday here in Italy) I finally had some blog time, and sorting through my pictures I found this gem from (unfortunately) discontinued Essence Colour&Go line.

I don't know why I didn't post it at that time, maybe because I took a ton of pictures (well, it's a multichrome ^_^) and I knew that sorting/editing them would have taken me forever! Anyway thanks to a rainy afternoon...Here is Essence n. 195 You wow'd me again.

I bought it as soon as I saw it in the Essence display (it was a "new" product in September 2014), even if I already had all Colour&Go duochromes in my stash...And I'm glad I did it: it's a beautiful multichrome, that switches from violet to lavender-blue-grey and light green.

Opaque in two coats, unfortunately brush strokes remain visibile (right now I would try to minimize them with the mat + glossy top coat trick); nevertheless it's a wonderful polish, quite unique IMO (it reminds me a little bit of Nubar Indigo Illusion), watching these pics I fell in love with it again.

Martedì finalmente ho avuto un po' di tempo libero e, scartabellando tra le vecchie foto, ho trovato questo gioiellino Essence (della vecchia linea Colour&Go). Non so perché ai tempi non lo avessi postato, probabilmente perché -trattandosi di un multichrome- avevo scattato un miliardo di foto e mi intimoriva il lavoro di scelta/editing.

Grazie ad una giornata festiva e piovosa...Eccolo qua, è il n. 195 You wow'd me again.

Ai tempi (due anni e mezzo fa!) non avevo potuto fare a meno di comprarlo, appena trovato nell'espositore, anche se avevo già praticamente tutti i duochrome delle varie collezioni Colour&Go.

Non me ne sono pentita: è uno smalto con un bellissimo cambio di colore: passa da viola a verde chiaro (che poi diventa un verde intenso) attraverso l'azzurro, con le sfumature intermedie di lavanda e pervinca grigiastro.

Coprente in due passate, purtroppo si vedono i segni del pennello (se lo mettessi ora proverei a minimizzarli con il doppio passaggio tc mat-tc lucido).

Comunque molto, molto bello...E credo abbastanza unico nel suo genere (mi ricorda un po' il più famoso Nubar Indigo Illusion), riguardando le foto me ne sono innamorata di nuovo.

Discontinued Day: Essence Colour&Go 134 Stuck on you + 139 Walk on the wild side

Today we have our monthly date with discontinued polishes...So I picked a couple of Essence that I swatched a year ago, but never posted because I didn't like the photos (golden hour is not good for swatching :-/). I thought that, as they have been discontinued last year, it's not that important if my pics are not 100% color-true.

Per il discontinued day di oggi recupero due smalti Essence Colour&Go, uno addirittura comprato appena uscito (senza neanche la scusa dei saldi).

Avevo messo da parte gli swatch perché non mi convincevano come resa del colore, ma visto che gli smalti sono usciti di produzione (un anno fa), se la luce non è quella giusta non è poi tanto grave!

Here is the first polish (bought at clearance sales): n. 134 Stuck on you. In the bottle it looked like a grayish violet with silver micro glitters; application wasn't that exciting (the polish was too runny and somehow oily, but maybe it was just conflicting with my new base coat).

Two coats and everything went fine (almost).

Iniziamo con quello preso ai saldi, si tratta del n. 134 Stuck on you, che a prima vista sembrava un viola grigio con microglitter argento.

Alla stesura si è rivelato di una consistenza strana, come "oleoso", e alla prima passata su alcune dita si è steso male (liquido, con tendenza a non aderire, dramma per le cuticole): pensavo dipendesse dal fatto che in boccetta si era scomposto, e non avevo rigirato abbastanza la bottiglietta prima di applicarlo, però avevo appena cambiato base quindi potrebbe anche essere un'incompatibilità tra i due :)

Comunque alla seconda passata quasi tutte le unghie sono andate a posto (è rimasto un buco sull'indice, dove la prima passata è stata particolarmente leggera e strisciata) ed risultato è stato un bel viola-grigioblu con particelle argentate, super lucido.

The polish reminded me of something else...But I couldn't try an exact dupe in my stash. I compared it with the blue Essence from TE Vampire Love (Into the dark). They are similar, but SoY is more violet compared to ItD, that has more shimmering particles.

Continuava a sembrami qualcosa di già provato, ma l'unica cosa simile con cui l'ho comparato è stato l'Essence Into the dark dell'edizione limitata Vampire Love.

Effettivamente la tipologia è simile, anche se il colore è diverso: lo SoY è più viola,  l'ItD è più blu e microglitteroso.

Here is the second one: n. 139 Walk on the wild side. I bought it as soon as it appeared in stores, and it's practically the green cousin of Stuck on you. Dark moss green base with light green micro flakes. Also this one applied oddly, but turned out very glossy. Two coats in my pics.

Passiamo all'altro, praticamente il cugino verde del primo: si tratta del 139 Walk on the wild side (questo comprato appena uscito, non si sa mai :D), un verde "muschio" scuro con microflakes verde chiaro.
Anche qui smalto con consistenza strana, ma sistemato in due passate e molto lucido alla fine.

Swatch: Essence Colour&Go 196 I ♥ my blue jeans

  

Today I'm showing you a new shade from Essence Colour&Go line (n. 196 I ♥ my blue jeans); the "suede" label really intrigued me, and I couldn't resist buying this polish.

The polish is really pigmented and easy to apply (it could be a one coater if applied carefully - two coats in my pictures, because I pulled too much the first coat on my middle nail and made a patch -_-). 

The brush is similar to other "new bottle" C&G, quite wide and thick, but not impossible to use on small nails (as my pinkie) if used with light hand.

I ♥ my blue jeans has a sort of satin finish, that somehow recalls real suede (not the "OPI suede"); the shade is a Prussian blue, rich and elegant, although not that unique.

About that, I decided to compare it (on a swatchicle - picture at the bottom of the post) side by side with Shaka Blu Navy (a satin/matte): the different finish is really evident, the Essence polish looks less silky and more "eggshell" (if makes any sense), but I assure you it's not rough at all.

Oggi vi mostro uno dei nuovi smalti Colour&Go Essence, il n. 196 I ♥ my blue jeans. Più che per il colore l'ho comprato per l'evocativa etichetta "The suede", curiosa di vedere che cosa intendessero...

Lo smalto è molto pigmentato e si applica bene, potrebbe essere sufficiente una passata anche sulle unghie larghe (io ho tirato troppo lo smalto sul medio e ho fatto il buco, per cui ho applicato -a tutti- anche una seconda passata).

Il pennello è il solito dei nuovi C&G, abbastanza largo e spesso, comunque secondo me applicando poca pressione si riesce ad utilizzarlo anche su unghie non larghissime (es. il mio mignolo).

Il finish effettivamente è leggermente satinato e la superficie ricorda qualcosa di scamosciato, ma non è comunque un suede "alla OPI".

Il colore è un blu di Prussia molto intenso ed elegante, anche se non proprio unico.

A tal proposito ho fatto una mini comparazione con un matte-satinato simile, lo Shaka Blu Navy (che devo ancora swatchare :-/), sull'unghia di plastica si nota quanto sia differente la finitura: l'Essence ha una superficie meno setosa, come a "guscio d'uovo" (assolutamente non ruvido però).

Bonus (or malus) picture: experiments with glossy top coat (I was trying to obtain a "rain drop" effect). Fail.

Foto extra (che sia un bene o un male, vedete voi): tentativi di manicure "gocce di pioggia" con top coat lucido. Non riusciti granché.

Discontinued Day: Essence Colour&Go 94 Gold Fever

Today's Discontinued Day post will feature both an old polish and old swatches: rummaging through my Draft folder I found these pictures, that I took in 2012: shorter nails, different lens (sort of "discontinued" as well :-P).

The polish is an old Essence Colour&Go, still the type with the lovely round bottle (I really loved those bottles, they were also much easier to store IMO).

It's number 94 "Gold Fever", a mix of golden and red micro glitters in a clear base. I tried it both on its own (one to four coats) and on a purple base (a comparison skittle).

Actually I don't know why I bought it, as it's not a "me" polish, probably I was in a glitter craze day :-0

Per il Discontinued Day di oggi abbiamo non solo uno smalto vecchio, ma pure delle foto molto datate : scartabellando (virtualmente) le mie foto da lavorare ho trovato questi reperti del 2012!

Unghie più corte, obiettivo diverso...Ormai discontinued anche quello :-P

Lo smalto era un vecchio Colour&Go Essence, il n. 94 Gold Fever (notare l'ironico adesivo "new" di quando l'ho comprato), ancora con la boccetta a sezione tonda (a me piacevano tanto, ed erano anche più comode e meno ingombranti da "immagazzinare").

E' un classico mix di glitter in base trasparente: micro color oro e piccoli rossi. Nelle foto lo vedete sia da solo, da uno a quattro strati, sia sovrapposto ad un mix di viola (una comparazione Shaka-Essence).

Onestamente non so perché l'ho comprato (non è molto "da me"), probabilmente ero in un giorno da delirio glitter...

Consolatevi con le altre chicche discontinued delle mie compagne di challenge!

Swatch: Essence Colour&Go 169 A hint of love + comparison/comparazione

I'm back! With an "almost just released :-P" polish from Essence: Colour&Go n.169 A hint of love.

This polish is a pretty raspberry full of magenta micro particles, that sparkle under sunlight. After the first coat my nails were already nice, so I decided to stick to the "one coat" version for my swatches.

While I was trying it I had the usual lightbulb moment (when I realize I already own something similar), so at the bottom of the post you will find a comparison with Kiko 277 (on index and ring).

The Kiko is slightly lighter and has bigger particles, but under sunlight the difference was really subtle (especially comparing them after the first coat).

So...A hint of love is quite nice, but maybe I didn't need it in my stash!

Oggi torno con uno smalto nuovo nuovo: uno degli ultimi Colour&Go della Essence, il n. 169 A hint of love.

E' un lampone pieno di particelle magenta, super riflettenti sotto il sole; ho deciso fermarmi alla prima mano, perché le unghie erano già belle colorate così (anche per non appesantirlo e rischiare di "soffocare" i micro flakes). 

Le foto con la boccetta sono quindi tutte "una passata e via"...Raccomanderei solo di non caricare tanto il pennello.

Mentre lo provavo si è accesa la solita lampadina "eppure l'ho già visto"...

Così qui sotto trovate la comparazione con il glorioso Kiko 277 (su indice e anulare); il Kiko è leggermente più chiaro e con particelle più grandi, ma al sole la differenza è quasi impercettibile (soprattutto confrontandoli dopo una passata sola).

Che dite, anche se è molto carino, me lo potevo risparmiare, questo A hint of love?
