Yesterday I went shopping with my best friends (and I managed not to buy any polishes :-o, but finally saw Vertigo IRL <3 I'm so tempted!). As my friend I. remarked that I didn't post anything that weekend, I asked her to pick the new post, listing the colors that were "almost ready" in my draft folder...

And this is what she chose: directly from last Essence clearance sales, another two sided Essence Colour³ polish (I admit I really hate them when it comes to storage, but thanks to Stregalice I learnt how to separate bottles from the "connector"). 

The base: Boys are back in town, a beautiful dusty purple (with a lot of grey in it), creamy, glossy and really elegant (two coats in my pictures).

The topper: It's just a little crush, a milky (but very sheer) base filled with iridescent hot pink and blue shimmer. Just one coat on the base and the dusty purple polish is completely transformed!

I wasn't fully convinced about this combo when it first appeared, but I think that for 1,19€ (here in Italy) it's really a couple worth having, even if I'm afraid I'm already owning at least one similar sheer shimmer.

Ieri sono stata a fare un giro negozi con le mie migliori amiche (e sono riuscita a non comprare neanche uno smalto...Pazzesco! Però ho visto dal vivo Vertigo <3 *sospira*) e visto che I. mi ha fatto notare che durante il weekend non avevo postato niente...Le ho fatto l'elenco delle foto "quasi pronte", facendole scegliere il post di oggi.

E così ecco qua, direttamente dai saldi Essence, uno degli smalti doppi Colour³ tanto scoccianti da riporre nell'Helmer (io ooodio distendere gli smalti, l'alternativa è sfilarli - con moderata violenza - da quel tappo di giunzione: Stregalice rules).

Questo è Boys are back in town + It's just a little crush: secondo me vale la pena se non altro per il viola (tendente al grigio) di base: cremoso, lucido e con una tonalità leggermente polverosa che trovo elegantissima!!

Quando ci applicate sopra il top coat (una base lattiginosa strapiena di shimmer iridescenti rosa carico/blu) lo smalto cambia proprio faccia e diventa un viola più freddo e ovviamente straluccicante.

Appena usciti ho saltato questo abbinamento, trovando i colori non particolarmente originali, ma direi che per 1,19€ è stato proprio un buon acquisto (fate attenzione però, proprio ieri in un OVS ho visto un espositore che - oltre ad essere particolarmente disastrato - non riportava nemmeno l'indicazione dei saldi :-0). Tra l'altro il topper potrebbe essere interessante anche su altri colori scuri (devo ancora controllare quanto assomiglia ad altre cose che ho già , però ^_^).

[comparison - comparazione] Essence Colour3 Midnight Date & City that never sleeps: dupes/doppioni

I'll be brief today (for once!): Essence people should sing aloud “Oops I did it again”! In fact Essence Midnight Date from Colour³ has just the same shade as Colour&Go 76 Hard to Resist (that strangely enough :-P has been just discontinued EDIT:  it's still in their permanent line).

Sarò breve (almeno stavolta). I creativi (?) Essence ci sono ricascati: Midnight Date della Colour³ è identico al Colour&Go 76 Hard to resist (casualmente appena eliminato EDIT: ancora nella collezione permanente).

As for "City that never sleeps", it's a sort of Nfu.Oh 52 knockoff, just sheerer (it takes two coats of Essence to reach the coverage of a single Nfu.Oh layer).

Damn, I should have skipped this duo polish!

Per quanto riguarda "City that never sleeps", potrei dire che è un simil Nfu.Oh 52, solo più trasparente (come vedete servono due mani dell'Essence per avere la colorazione di una passata Nfu.Oh). 

Cavolo, mi potevo decisamente risparmiare questo acquisto!!

It's Monday! I hope you guys all had a nice weekend :-)
Today I'll show you another double ended Colour³ polish, the blue one, formed of:

• Midnight Date blue base with turquoise shimmer, quite pigmented (check 1st coat picture w/o bottle below);
• City that never sleeps matching (or so it was in their intentions) top coat, a sheer jelly purple base with green flakes. I tried it also on its own on my right hand, it is so sheer you need at least three coats to wear it on its own.

They are quite nice together, even if on that blue base the green flakes effect is not very visible.
Anyway to me these are not the most original shades ever, I checked my wheels and find a couple siblings, that I will show you tomorrow ;-)

Buongiorno e buon lunedì, spero abbiate passato un buon fine settimana (nonostante il freddo)! Oggi torniamo sui Colour³ della Essence, un altro dei permanenti che ho comprato è stato il “blu”, composto da:

• Midnight Date come base, un blu con shimmer turchese/verde, ben pigmentato (solita foto senza bottiglia dopo la prima mano);
• City that never sleeps il top coat da abbinare, un jelly viola decisamente trasparente, con flakes (scaglie?) verdi. Provato sulla mano destra in più mani, dovendo usarlo da solo ne servono almeno tre...

Insieme non sono male, anche se sulla base blu l'effetto dei flakes un po' si perde. Comunque i colori non sono il massimo dell'originalità, a domani per una veloce comparazione con dei parenti molto stretti trovati nel mio armadietto smalti.

[comparison - comparazione] Hot pink - Rosa carico Essence/Kiko/Essence

Here is my hot pink comparison! I'm sorry but the double ended polish still lacks its own swatch post, still working on that :-) Please forgive also my awful cuticles (couldn't get rid of that paper cuts)!

I decided to compare (2 coats each):

Ecco qui la mia comparazione “rosa carico”, putroppo per lo smalto "doppio" manca il post dedicato, ci sto lavorando ;-)...Scusate anche lo stato penoso delle cuticole :-/ non sono riuscita a rimediare decentemente agli odiosi "taglietti da carta".

Questi i contendenti (2 mani ciascuno):

They are really similar, the slight difference between them is that Kiko has orange shimmer whereas Essence ones have magenta/fuchsia one, and Essence Shopping Trip in Soho base color is slightly darker than the other two.

If you already own one of them, you probably can skip the others (unless you are a hardcore hot pink fan)!

Sono veramente molto simili, poche le micro differenze che ho trovato: lo shimmer del Kiko è arancio, mentre gli altri due sono rosa/magenta e  la tonalità di base del Shopping è leggermente più scura degli altri due.
Insomma, se ne avete già uno potreste tranquillamente fare a meno degli altri (a meno che non siate proprio appassionate di questa tonalità).

This year Essence released many  “double ended” polishes, maybe to substitute the Nail Art Twins line (actually I would have preferred a two-separate-bottles version): first Trend Edition Circus Circus, now both TE Season of Extremes and six Colour³ shades of their permanent collection.

I was really excited about promo pics of Season of Extremes, but once I saw the polishes IRL I thought that top coats were just simple shimmer or microglitter in a clear o slightly colored base (they remind me of  Kiko “Sparkle Touch” polishes I already own) so I didn't bought any. On the contrary a couple of the Colour³ ones seemed more interesting, so I picked three of them. Here is first:

A Walk in the park is the base shade, the one that actually made me buy this product: a deep green creme with subtle shimmer, really pretty (opaque in two coats).

Stop for an ice cream matching top coat, an ordinary (to me) milky base with light blue shimmer and sky blue glass flakes. I tried it both on its own (three coats – on pinkie) and on A Walk in the park (one coat) and I think that combo is quite nice (yet not astonishing).

About the double sided bottle, I didn't find it very handy for both application (it's like handling a  bottle with a heavy and too long cap) and storage (I hate having to keep them horizontally: if I had easy access to empty standard bottles maybe I will re-bottle them)!

Quest'anno la Essence ha lanciato parecchi smalti “doppi”, una specie di versione monopezzo dei famosi Twin (io preferivo decisamente le due boccette separate): dopo la Trend Edition Circus Circus sono apparse infatti la Season of Extremes e i sei colori della collezione permanente Colour³.

Non ho comprato nemmeno un colore della Season, nonostante dalle immagini promozionali mi piacessero un sacco: una volta visti dal vivo i top coat mi sono sembrati dei semplici shimmer/microglitter in base semitrasparente e mi hanno ricordato tantissimo i Kiko Sparkle Touch.

Però un paio di colori della permanente avevano (o almeno mi sembrava) qualcosa in più, quindi tre sono tornati a casa con me, questo è il primo:

A walk in the park: il colore di base, quello che mi ha fatto decidere di comprare questa boccetta: un verde bosco abbastanza caldo con dello shimmer leggero ma visibile sia nelle boccetta che sulle unghie, bellissimo e coprente in due passate!

Stop for an ice cream: il top coat, composto dalla “solita” base lattiginoso/trasparente con agguinta di shimmer celesti e piccole scaglie (glass flecks) azzurrine. L'ho provato sia da solo (tre passate sul mignolo) che su A Walk in the park (una passata) e mi piace abbastanza anche l'effetto combinato.

Per quanto riguarda le boccette fatte così, non ho apprezzato molto: le trovo abbastanza scomode da maneggiare per quanto riguarda l'applicazione (come se la boccetta avesse un tappo lunghissimo e pesante) e mi dà fastidio doverle riporre distese nel cassetto smalti (se avessi a portata di mano un fornitore di boccette vuote le travaserei volentieri)!
