Nail mail from Ukraine [swap - haul]

Last Friday has been an epic "nail mail" day for me: the parcel Irina (from Zebra-nails) sent me finally arrived!! We were both worried, as according to international tracking the parcel stopped at Italian customs on october 7th, but luckily a week later it resumed its journey and arrived here safe and sound.

Unpacking and unwrapping make me feel like it was Christmas: not just the beautiful polishes Irina picked for me (and suggested, in some cases), but also a surprise polish, chocolate, jelly candies (she remembered I have a soft spot for them) and a magnet shaped as an Ukrainian traditional clothing!

I must thank her again for her kindness and helpfulness, she's as nice as you can imagine reading her blog!

Venerdì scorso per me è stato un giorno da "nail mail" epico! Forse avrete letto sul blog di Irina (Zebra-nails) del nostro scambio smalti; eravamo entrambe un po' preoccupate perché il mio pacco era fermo dal sette presso l'ufficio postal-doganale di Linate...Invece dopo una settimana di permanenza è ripartito e l'altro ieri è arrivato qui sano e salvo!

Una specie di Natale in anticipo: oltre agli smalti che pazientemente Irina ha cercato per me (e alcuni me li ha proprio suggeriti lei) ho trovato anche cioccolata, cioccolatini con immagini tipiche dell'Ucraina, caramelle gommose (si ricordava che ho un debole per orsetti e schifezze simili :D) e perfino un magnete che riproduce un costume locale!

Non posso fare altro che ringraziarla per la disponibilità e per la gentilezza, come si intuisce leggendo il suo blog è veramente una ragazza carinissima!

Swatch: Wjcon Sugar Effect n. 807

A super quick post today, but not because the polish is not worth it (it's just that I'm really swamped lately ^_^). 

I'm showing you an Italian textured, but not from Kiko! This is Wjcon n. 807 from Sugar Effect collection; last Summer they released a lot of textured polishes, including neon ones: this is the first I tried (but I bought more than one, obviously).

Application was nice, the polish is somehow "compact" and doesn't drip even when the brush is fully loaded (weird description, I know): no clean up on middle and ring nails, two coats for this swatch.

The shade is really pretty, a teal-turquoise with golden particles, that make color seem more green or blue according to light reflection (you can see slightly different nails in a couple pics); cherry on top, these polishes are not very expensive: I found them on sale at  € 3,50 (slightly reduced price, they're listed at 4€ on their website).

Oggi un post super veloce, ma non perché lo smalto non meriti, anzi (è solo che sono super incasinata, tanto per cambiare ^_^)!

Si tratta di un materico/textured Wjcon (un marchio italiano ancora non molto diffuso - in provincia di Udine lo trovate al CittàFiera), di cui mi sono innamorata appena visto in negozio.  Finora avevo provato solo un loro magnetico, adesso oltre al resto hanno una serie di Sugar Effect (loro li chiamano così) veramente degna di nota (ci sono perfino dei fluo)!

Questo è il n. 807, una specie di teal-turchese con particelle dorate. Si stende molto bene, la formula è "compatta" (non saprei definirla altrimenti) e anche a pennello carico il prodotto non cola (su medio e anulare non ho fatto pulizia di rifinitura). Qui vedete il risultato dopo due passate, si nota come il colore cambi (più o meno tendente al blu o verde) a seconda di come la luce si riflette sulle particelle.

A me è piaciuto veramente tantissimo (e sono contenta di averne presi altri, in negozio - e al momento anche sul sito - erano in promozione ad un prezzo leggermente scontato: 3,50€).

Shaka Cosmo: 680 Neptune - 765 Supernova

Another Shaka Cosmo couple of polishes today: Neptune and Supernova:

680 NEPTUNE

Neptune is a dark violet (grape?) with blue/magenta shimmer, that make it look almost metallic. Perfect in two coats.

Neptune è un viola scuro (uva?) con shimmer blu/magenta, che gli conferiscono una finitura metallica. Perfetto in due passate.

765 SUPERNOVA

Supernova is a metallic aquamarine. Not very opaque (two coats in my pictures - nail line slightly visible) but easy and creamy to apply.

Tried also (quite in a hurry, I admit it) over a black base: it becomes more "azure". Oddly enough according to its Shaka numbering (7xx) it seems to belong to the "greens" family, but I placed it on my blue wheel without a doubt!

I still have to show you the last two Cosmos; I hope I'll be able to complete the series soon, in the meantime here are the swatches posted so far.

Supernova è un azzurro-verde sempre metallico (al sole luccica parecchio), ma non coprentissimo. Per queste foto sono state applicate due mani, molto "cremose".

Provato (o meglio applicato alla meno peggio :-P) anche su base nera, dove si ottiene un azzurro più intenso.

In ogni caso anche stavolta io e la classificazione Shaka non ci intendiamo: io l'ho messo sulla ruota dei blu-azzurri, mentre la loro numerazione sembra indicare un verde (è un "settecentoqualcosa"). Mah!

Comunque spero vi siano piaciuti questi Cosmo, ne mancano ancora due e spero di poterveli mostrare presto. Il riassunto di quelli postati finora lo trovate qui.

Over black - Sopra una base nera

Discontinued Day: YSL Vernis Laque Pur n. 43 Mauve pigment - Deep purple [swatch]

Discontinued Day!! Today I picked really an antique of mine: a YSL polish I bought at the end of 2002. It's Vernis Laque Pur n. 43 Mauve pigment - Deep purple (I found the twin name really charming, at that time). It's a tricky-to-picture purple with magenta and blue shimmer; not so peculiar (considering the polishes I'm used to wear now), but then I really adored it (it's not noticeable in my pics, but there's only 1/4 left in the bottle).

What's more this polish proves that (if properly stored) these products can have quite a long life span: here I applied two coats, after adding a couple drops of thinner (please never ever use acetone to thin your polishes) and still it was a little bit viscous, but after 11 years I really couldn't blame it for that!

Trivia: I found the yellow price tag at the bottom of the box (yep, I kept that one, too): I paid it 14,80€ (quite expensive, but those were the "one polish a season" years)!

Per il Discontinued Day di oggi tiro fuori un pezzo veramente storico: uno smalto YSL comprato a fine 2002. Si tratta del Vernis Laque Pur n. 43: Mauve pigment - Deep purple (ai tempi mi pareva una figata il doppio nome francese/inglese).

E' un viola (capricciosissimo da fotografare) con shimmer blu e magenta; adesso non mi sembra niente di particolarmente originale, ma quella volta ne ero follemente innamorata (non si nota nelle foto, ma ne è rimasto solo un quarto nella boccetta).

Questo "reperto" comunque è la prova del fatto che, se adeguatamente conservati, gli smalti possono durare parecchio. Per lo swatch ho dato due passate dopo aver aggiunto due gocce di thinner apposito (mai e poi mai usare acetone per diluire gli smalti), lo smalto era ancora viscoso, ma dopo quasi undici anni (essendo anche stato aperto parecchio) non posso proprio lamentarmi!

Curiosità: sulla scatola (perché ovviamente ho conservato anche quella) c'era ancora l'etichetta gialla del prezzo: € 14,80 (ai tempi era davvero una bella cifra, ma compravo due-tre smalti all'anno)!

Swatch: Chanel 657 Azuré

I don't know what to blame: fall, cooler weather, decreasing daylight...The fact is that lately I've been feeling quite out of sync.

I'm trying to take up here with a "is it still in your Drafts?" post (my friend F.'s words, the one I shared this guilty purchase with). I'm talking about Chanel Azuré (Summer 2013 collection) and I must thank here my friend for letting me try it first (and take a zillion pictures under the wonderful sunlight of the end of June *sighs*).

I'll let the pictures do the talking, just few words: Azuré is a beautiful metallic turquoise shifting to azure and then blue. Easy to apply (BTW Chanel still sticks to the "old school" narrow brush), opaque in two coats; clearly there are visible brush strokes (it's a metallic, after all), but under sunlight the polish is so sparkly that they are hardly noticeable.

I took really a lot of pictures (I was in love with my mani), but it had been almost impossible to catch the shift on a single nail; anyway I hope you like them!

Sarà l'autunno, sarà il freddo, sarà la luce solare che già scarseggia...negli ultimi giorni mi sono sentita proprio fuori fase. Cerco di riprendere il ritmo con un post che "cosa aspetti a pubblicare" (questa è la mia amica F., con cui ho diviso il peccaminoso acquisto).

Si tratta dello Chanel Azuré (collezione estiva 2013), che ho bramato da quasi subito e che, dopo varie peripezie (quando ho deciso di comprarlo non si trovava più) è entrato (al 50%) nel mio Helmer. Grazie ancora alla mia Sis piccola, che me l'ha lasciato usare per prima, giusto per fargli quelle mille foto sotto il sole (sigh) di fine giugno.

Credo le foto parlino da sole: un bellissimo turchese metallico con effetto multichrome (vira all'azzurro intenso e poi al blu). Perfetto in due mani (anche se dopo la prima sembrava molto leggero) e facile da applicare (Chanel è rimasto uno dei pochi a utilizzare ancora il pennello stretto "vecchia scuola"). Certo ci sono le righe tipiche dei metallici, ma al sole non si notano quasi per niente; in interni lo smalto è un po' meno sfavillante.

Ho scattato un sacco di foto, io l'ho trovato veramente strepitoso, anche se è stato praticamente impossibile cogliere il cambio colore in un'unica immagine. Spero vi piacciano comunque!
